This is almost as common as a Schiano thread, but there were no more than 50 students in their section at kickoff and no more than 200-250 at the peak attendance. I know we suck and there's little incentive (including t-shirt giveaways for them), but still...

I really think the last thing we should be complaining about is student attendance.
I vaguely remember college providing so many more enjoyable experiences than this year’s football team.

Given there were say 8,000 in the regular 40,000 (generous), that’s 20% full normal fans. In the 8,000 seat student section, if there were 1600 that would be even with the rest of the crowd. There were probably no more than 500 plus the band so about 700 in total, so about half the percentage of the rest of the general public of NJ did in filling the rest of the stadium

Yeah, but did anyone else notice the smokeshow student photographer roaming the sidelines? Far more important than students in the stands, lol...

I saw you with your binocs. Guess you put them to good use.

And yes I noticed her too. But sadly left my binocs home today.

Nope. The one I'm thinking of had a white or lighter covered top.

BTW, I closely watched the game replay this morning. The mystery student photographer spotted by you and @e5fdny showed up near the end of the game.

Meh.

The thing I don't get is IF there was 1 game to go to and you could hope for a good game...this was it?

We had our bigger tailgate crew and it turned out way better than expected. Seeing folks leaving with a smile was great.

We met our son for early dinner on Easton Ave. Walked through the yard, and they had the BTN on, and they were gushing about Rutgers' performance. I shouted out, "We could still go bowling!" which caused a few people to laugh at me (including myself).

I'll take the bait and beat the dead horse.........The University has basically banned students from tailgating and from the Busch campus. The kids want to tailgate. just like all of us. The difference is that many are under 21. The Alley was a fantastic idea from the athletic dept and Student Affairs shut it down. It certainly could have a few more "controls" in place to prevent any negative behavior. Police from a distance and remove any problem issues/behavior. I have spoken with dozens of students that attended the Alley and all agreed the best part was that "everyone was there". RU needs to see this. It's not about getting wasted or puking in the weeds, it's about have a fun college GameDay with friends. There is a little don't ask/don't tell regarding a student with a red cup or water bottles. Treat students like the adults they are. Act like a drunken child, then you get arrested/ticketed. Allow the other 99% to enjoy the day/event/game. If the team has a pulse, a good percentage will go to the game and you might even create some Rutgers football fans in the process.

Basically the same student section we'd get for late Shea/early Schiano games. There's just more sections in the stadium to hold them now.

You need to get your glasses checked. Go to 27 seconds left right after the onside kick. Or get yourself some binoculars, lol.
Stick to the weather, and get new binoculars!

This is a tight belly:

That photographer was not bad, but not tight. And her elbows WERE pointy. LOL.

I know it's a different sport, but I was a student during the Littlepage days. During those three years, I missed TWO home games. The number of other students in the student section is perhaps best reflected in the fact that the players noticed I wasn't there. Seriously.

But count me among those who never, ever blame people for not going to a sporting event. And the notion that changing coaches would have increased student turnout is silly. Alums might get excited over a name coach -- or Schiano -- but students will wait to see some Ws.
