If he wants to commit before the beginning of his high school season this will be wrapping up really soon. I would like for Pope to get him just for a statement recruit win but I honestly think we won't be hurting if we don't.

I don't think Stokes does anything to stop or change "Portal hopping" or "the long game." Stokes is almost assuredly a 1 and done.
Stokes is a generational talent. He will be head and shoulders better than anyone we get from the portal. He would be a massive addition.
He seems to be. But these experts miss so many times. Just in the last few years they missed horribly on Bradshaw and Wagner.

If you have actually seen him play in a game then that’s different.
Going from all freshman to all portal players isn’t the answer. Guys like Stokes are going to give us a talent advantage over just about anyone. We won’t find guys like him in the portal.

So there’s hope? I don’t see him coming to UK. Really want him to. I just don’t see it. Other than when he was on the visit I have seen nothing mentioning Stokes and UK. Kind of wondering if Pope is even trying to get high school recruits anymore. Obviously he would want Stokes but maybe he’s more comfortable running the program with older players. I’m kind of surprised we landed Jasper Johnson now that I think about it.
I could see him going to Kansas. People think because he signed with Nike there’s now way he goes there but more than likely that’s where he ends up. There or Oregon.
Yeah, but this is a year he needs to sign a flagship freshman. He has Jasper which is awesome, but a number one recruit with a great year would help his recruiting for years to come.

We have been trending in first place for him for a long while now. These rumors are starting because his recruitment has slowed a bit because he’s playing Football his last year for fun.

The brand does need to continue to get elite talent but you can easily miss there and still win. Still, Kentucky needs to make its mark in all areas. You don’t just go all in any direction, like Calipari did and it ruined his legacy. He learned too late.
But signing OAD’s these days doesn’t move the needle like it used to. I do think like I said, the brand needs to continue to put NBA OAD’s in the league from Kentucky so we don’t lose our image there. Pope knows this as well that’s why he signed JQ. Message sent, this is still the place of the pros. We just won big with them now too.
Hopefully they whiffed on Stokes and gave Ariza the green light to commit.
Get the right player (no matter he is transfer or freshman), if you can get Zion/AD/Flagg/Wall/Fox, why not

dont do this to me. He’s the type of recruit that sways things for years to come. Maybe he don’t come in and perform how I think he will but more than likely he comes in and dominates gets drafted number one and shows UK is still at the top. We need this kid. Won’t kill us if we don’t land him but we need him.
Pope needs this kid for so many reasons. His attitude and style of play would be a perfect match for Pope. Pope is calm and collected. Calculated. He needs a player like Stokes to come in and take no prisoners. Dunk on everybody. I think I might be higher on this kid than anybody. The word dog gets used way to much but Stokes is in fact a dawG.
