He's a lot like Yaxel was for Michigan. Not quite as big (6'9 245 vs 6'7 225) but a big powerful wing who can grab the rebound and lead you in transition like a point forward, hit a 3 to keep the defense honest, and even get you an Oweh level pick 6 by defending the passing lanes. He can effect the game by getting you 20, by playing good defense, or being the guy the offense runs through. There were plenty of games Yaxel had where he wasn't the leading scorer but he touched everything and everything went thru him if Caddue had a rough time of it. Stokes fits that mold. So I guess if youre comparing NBA players, very LeBron in how he will do whatever you need as opposed to being one-dimensional.

Im more curious to see him in a college weight room. Hes not small by any means at 225lbs at 6'7, but imagine once he hits the weights and meal plan. Probably be a trim yet powerful 235 by season opening. Going to be an absolute force.
Yeah Stokes already has a good, natural build but you can tell he’s one of those that will look like a linebacker once he gets into a serious weight room. There was a pic posted online before Randle’s freshman year here where he was shirtless on a track with 3 other guys. Looked like they’d just had a workout. Randle looked like a bodybuilder in the pic. I see Stokes having a similar build.

He can shoot much better than Royce White ever could.

I agree that's why I said a version. Royce probably could've developed that skillset but just never focused on it due to a different era.

Another player that fomes to mind is msu version of draymond green. Again, not the era to work on the three but same height and similar skillset.

True. If Royce came along now, he'd be taking four 3's a game.

He does not seem extremely aggressive but when he does he explodes off the screen.
I think until he asserts hisself more I am going with Justin Edwards. All the potential

100% wrong. Mashburn was a real shooter. Stokes can dunk, he’s quick but needs a 3 point shot.
Stokes can shoot the 3, and he also has a stronger post game then Mash had back in day. Stokes looks for contact and he finishes. Let’s just get him, then we can really compare 😝

Oh definitely though it’s on scale, AJ BYU, freshman, imagine a guy like him or Boozer played multiple seasons of CBB like Yaxel

If they had played on Michigan, they wouldn't have avg any where near the numbers they did. Yaxel would have avg 23 at byu. He's a force.

People seem to not understand what "comparison" means when referencing it to basketball players. Its a similar in their style of play not saying their abilities are the same.

Justin Edwards never once showed an ability to dribble. That's why he struggled. It wasn't effort. Same as colin Chandler, he just couldn't do anything with the ball

Yes.i watched the video. All he did was drive and dunk. Not criticism, sarcasm. Apparently 47 of his 50 top plays were dunks.
I didn't pick the material for the video. We have plenty of sarcasm around here. You could have picked a better video to link if you had wanted that would have actually added something.

Apologies, I wasn't trying to insult you or your post in any way. I was just amused that a highlight video of the #1 recruit was almost all dunks. I know it's hard to believe, but some of us on here don't try to sew dissent with every post.

You don’t know what you’re talking about.
When Mash posted he either scored or scored and got fouled. Mash was an elite 3 point shooter.
