Stills Gets WVU Offer

Perhaps RU is who is being played here? Maybe he knew if he committed to RU it would make WVU get off the fence on whether or not they were going to offer? If they didn't he still was going to a P5 school so he is safe regardless. Just food for thought.

Would hope that wasn't the case, huskers, but then again, with the way the recruiting game is played these days, on both sides of the equation, I guess you can never completely rule anything out.

Well, during the time we were growing up, I'd suspect we all faced "tests", if you will, we had to deal with, e.g., keeping a commitment, honoring your word, staying the course even if doing so might not be the easiest way to go, etc., and I would guess this is one of those first really serious types of situations for Darius. -It'll be interesting to see how he handles this and which path he ultimately decides to take.

Cool, but does he care about education?
Maybe he just wants to go to the NFL. Maybe he's content with any college education cause it's more than those in his area receive. He's grown up wvu all his life..i really doubt he sees anything wrong with the school except maybe their current coaches for stringing him along.

Ehhh...whatever he wants is what's best for him. If he stays, he's likely a project and My gut tells me his brother wouldn't come anyhow. If he goes, well he wasn't thing up a scholarship for long.

IMO, this to some extent. But Ash is no dummy. He knew what Stills wants better than most of us here. Perhaps, he forced WVU to play its hand, probably before it was ready to make an offer to the kid. Maybe some other kid for either or both schools is waiting in the wings. Or maybe he will be totally pissed if Stills flips. I doubt anyone of us will know the truth.

After reading all the negative comments by misinformed Rutgers fans, that we were wasting our offers on a 2 star player he decided to take his talents elsewhere. WVU fans showered him with love and that was all she wrote, and he just got bumped to 4 stars for the dagger.

LOL, you can't make this stuff up! LOL

I have a feeling that we've seen this movie before. The eastern Euro TE kid from N Jersey last year who was so excited to receive an RU offer then flipped to BC 48 hours later.

Like others have said I'd rather lose them now then on signing day.

Best of luck to The kid. Next man up.

4 stars now :eek:kay:
Guess Crosby ,Nash and Young committed with him to make that 4 star rating.
But in any case , if he's a Mountaineer and gained 2 stars, it shows the RU staff
can judge talent and he got those stars because his committing to Rutgers made him a better player ( when he left [winking] )

Try and keep disparaging remarks to yourselves, the kid decommitted and re-opened his recruitment but he has yet to commit to WVU, a lot can happen between now and Feb.

That lot that can happen does not include him decommiting to Rutgers lol..don't fool yourself otherwise.

I posted in the other thread, but wasn't Stills supposed to commit last week or something? Then when the deadline rolled around he said he was going to postpone his decision. We all took that as him giving WVU more time to offer. Is anyone really surprised by any of this? We knew he didn't want to be here.

Hate to say it this way Mr.Otterstat but technically as a homeless person struggling top earn ANY money so that I can pay for my football ticket (spo that I can have some sort of social life) to commit and make the comments he did one day and then (assuming he does) fl dys lateri, t shows a classless arrogant 17 year old whom, if I had my way (my opinion-that I can share publically on Stevepikell.com-) would just happen to be tarred and feathered by the community (edited because black lives matter) . My opinion and college sports from all angles at its worst.

Can someone provide the Rosetta Stone to translate this mess? Thanks...

Well, that was certainly an interesting, (and QUICK), timeline of events:

7/30/16: DS commits to RU.

7/31/16: DS tweets that giving RU his verbal was the best decision he's made in his life.

And on 8/1/16 DS is....outta here!

Yes, indeed, in recruiting, fact IS definitely stranger than fiction.

Maybe Stills would prefer playing in the Big 10 for a school that is 1/2 hour from New York City and the beautiful beaches at the Jersey Shore.

Not sure if your post was tongue-in-cheek or you simply haven't read the entire thread, but since Darius de-committed from RU today, somehow I don't think the factors you mentioned ultimately carried all that much weight.

While this is example #4080 of recruiting being the new Wild West, it's obvious stills has been dreaming of this offer for a long time. Better to flip now than later

Sorry but I have to say this, he did not get a bump to 4 stars.

To my original post I should have added [/sarcasm]. Sorry for the confusion

HOWEVER, in the "Can't Make This Up" category it appears that Rivals did upgrade him to 3 stars after he got the WVU offer.

Umm,no. Maybe he can talk Bell into staying home. Seems heartfelt that he wants to play close to home:

"I'm feeling good. I feel like I made the right decision because it's close to home. I'm right at home. I'm not leaving, I'm not going anywhere which makes me even more happy," he said. "And It's more uplifting off my grandparents and parents' shoulders because they don't have to drive six hours all the time to come watch me play and stuff. So overall, it's cool. I'm excited."

Clearly the coaches had this discussion with Stills before he committed, so he goes home gets an WVU offer forgets what he said to the coaches when he committed, and they pulled the offer after he commits to WVU, clearly not the honesty the RU coaches were looking for. So done deal in early August move on, better than screwing around in January when your options are limited.
