I recall the year before he came and Eddie’s last year we played the last game vs Minnesota and won to finish 1-17 in the BIG. Minnesota was short on players bc if injury/suspension. In Pikes fourth year we were headed to the big dance as a 7/8 seed... just amazing!! and the best news is Pike is building a sustaining NCAA tourney team every year with a huge increase in RAC attendance. The culture/image has changed, truly Knight and day!! So much fun to follow this team!

Love what he's done thus far, but Capt Obvious says "in order to take steps to the next level he has to get our NJ kids to stay home." You know, the kids that fill the Kentucky, Villanova, Duke rosters each year. All it takes is 1 or 2 a year - Cliff is good start.

The guy is a good coach. But let’s play a tournament game and maybe win it first. I think he will . He certainly looks like he’s on his way .But he’s gotta do it and trust me he knows .

Ive loved the guy from day ONE !!!
Same... didn't know who he was when I first heard his name, but when I looked up his career and saw he took a terrible stony brook team and rebuilt them I thought that experience was needed for Rutgers. Coaches who haven't dealt with that before might struggle more. Then see he was a northeastern guy and PG for Calhoun and his style was he wants to play tough D it seemed like a perfect fit and I was all in. Couldn't be happier with Pike and he just seems like such a great genuine person it makes him even more likable.

Pike and Schiano 2.0... the Rutgers glory years are here

Amazing that we beat Syracuse by 10 and only five of our guys scored. Wouldn't be surprised if Schiano has us ranked in year 4 or year 5 of his second stint.

Jersey kids are slow to adapt because they receive bad advice from idiot adults trying to live through them.

From the moment Steve was hired and when I met him shortly thereafter I felt he was an excellent choice. He is so friendly to everyone, is a great representative for RU and is so appreciative for being at RU. Immediately with only about 4 guys left from the previous team Steve made RU respectful at 15-18 and even defeated Ohio State in the BIG 10 tournament. In year # 2 he led us to two wins over Minnesota and Indiana in the Big 10 Tournament. Steve has built the team from the bottom up since his first season. He recruits players that fit our system. He gets it and has made RU relevant again and respected as a very good college basketball program. I for one are SO HAPPY that Steve Pikiell is our Head Coach and that he is such a good friend.

I can appreciate him rebuilding the program to Top 25 status in year four, particularly when the only reason we did not play in the NCAAs last season was because a once in a century pandemic broke out.

I can appreciate it too. Only a moron wouldn’t appreciate it . He’s still gotta win and we all believe that will happen

With coach Pike ...I’ve never been so confident in any coach in any sport that Rutgers has had That we will have our turn to win big. It’s coming.

Great coach that could just very well be an elite coach

Love that Pike is our coach. Became an instant fan of his day 1 - and it still feels like he just got here. Besides building a strong and winning program -- his teams are some of the funnest teams in the country to watch. We're lucky. I think he's one big time recruiting class away - from taking this up another level

So don't be Debbie Downer ("He's a good coach, buuuuuut...") in a thread that was created to express our appreciation for what he's accomplished to date.
Yes . I am just recognizing that he can accomplish sooo much more. You gotta believe !

Steve Pikiell has RU Hoops on the precipice of a Top 20 ranking, only 4 games into his fifth season here. The guy is a friggin miracle worker. He’s given us so many thrills already with many more to come. As fans we really lucked out, and after everything we’ve been through over the years, we certainly earned it. Thank you Coach Pike!

It was only a few short years ago I thought Rutgers might never go to the NCAA Tournament again. Well it took a damn pandemic that the world hasn't seen the likes of in over a hundred years to keep us out of it last year. We were an NCAA Tournament team last year. Pike got us there. A global pandemic prevented us from playing a game in it. In my mind Pike achieved the impossible last year.

After coming home on board fully at the beginning of EJ’s last year, it’s been nothing short of amazing to watch theses guys build RU to these heights!

Also, I was one of the few people on here who said to give SP a chance. This is just crazy!!!

Steve is a genuinely good guy and a class act.

That pretty much says it all about him.

Said this the other day in the game chat but ill say again
There was a play the other day

harper drives to the corner , cross court to palm , swing to young , drive and kick to harper for corner 3 ,

maybe the single smoothest and best offensive sequence ive seen from this team, credit to pike , earning every dollar

When Greg Robinson was coach we beat them 31-14, and it was obvious we we going to win for about 40 of the 60 minutes.😁

I was fully on board after our game against FSU in Pikes first year. We lost that game but afterwards I said "we're pretty good."

About the only time I waivered was 2 years ago with the early season struggles and difficulty signing high rated players. I thought, he's an amazing coach but without top talent it eventually becomes impossible to keep moving up.

But the last 3 guys he's signed have completely wiped out any concerns.

Steve Pikiell is not only a great coach but a great person. He has embraced Rutgers like an alumnus and he is a UConn, Calhoun guy. He devours film and game plans against the tough Big 10, which is known as a great scouted league, where the real good coaches take away your best options . Pike is as good if not better than all the rest. He believes in a strong bench and gets all the players on the team to buy in , by rewarding them with playing time . Have never felt Izzo or Painter or Motta or Ryan ever out coached him. His emphasis on defense and rebounding first to get us competitive , then focusing on offense and bringing in offensive talent , which he identifies better than most coaches have lead to Harper, Young ,Cliff and next year Jones , besides the offensive development of the rest of our core is incredibly impressive. He will bring us back to the Promised land and his bringing the team he inherited to the NCAA ‘s by year 4 is beyond amazing and now we will be a perennial ranked team . We are so lucky he is doing this at Rutgers University . Kudos to Coach Pike .

Pikiell is truly one of the best coaches in the game. Always does and says the right thing, takes care of and supports his guys, supports the fan base and university. is always appreciative and gracious win or loss.

If only he can tighten up the rotation and figure out how to make some foul shots that would be great....j/k

Imagine pikiell acted like Coach K after every loss? How miserable would that be.

I know he’s not everyone’s favorite, but nice hire by director Hobbs. Needed a little push, but ultimately got Schiano back as well.
