Technically a school cannot approach a coach of another school while the season is still going on. That is why you don't see things happen with coaches until the season is over or they are out of the tourney. There maybe talks going on behind the scenes with IU and Alford's agent, but technically they are not allowed to talk to Alford while UCLA's season is still ongoing.

Apparently when Steve's people reached out to IU they were told that at the moment Steve isn't IU's top target. That IU is keying in on someone else. Steve basically said forget it and is out of the race even if IU circles back. If he wasn't going to be the primary target then he's not interested.
This is directly from someone close to Steve. He also said he thinks IU is keying in on a BIG name for them to blow Steve off like that. I don't know any more on Donovan at this time. But I'm very confident saying Alford won't be the coach at IU anytime soon, even if IU comes back to him and offers him the job. That ship has sailed.

Why is everyone hyping the other ball kid up so much?? He is a chubby 3star player with a good 3pt shot. Nothing more than that..he will never sniff the league.
