Will Stein seems to be reversing something I never understood in the Stoops era.
He is taking his Studs to media days. Stoops almost avoided taking a QB to media days. He took his team guys. Usually an Olineman. To me that told the team our QB is not a leader. He isn’t the face of our team.
Looks like Will gets it taking his QB, High rated pass TE and the defensive leader. Stoops took Jagger Burton I believe after he famously speared a guy in the back who was on the ground.
I supported Stoops longer than most but his choice for Media days always confused the ish out of me.

I'm fully prepared to have my heart broken by UK football yet again but damn it feels good to actually have hope again.
It’s crazy that a lot on this board are dogging anyone who says Stein isn’t building a playoff contending Team right before our eyes, Then say, With our schedule I can’t see more than 5 wins. Lol. Hope springs eternal every spring season.

What? Stein is checking all the boxes so far but the man needs time. Nothing wrong with lower short term expectations but higher long term ones.

I usually don't get to wrapped up in win predictions this time of year. Every year there are teams that come out of nowhere like a Vandy and shocks everyone. And there are teams that flop and are beatable. So who knows? Will LSU have issues gelling in Kiffen's first yr. Will Bama continue to slip? OU and Texas hasn't been elite since joining the SEC. Either way im just happy with having hope and knowing the game isn't over as soon as we get behind by 10.

No. Nothing wrong with optimism. I used to be that guy. I believed every fluff article of how great we looked. Guys that couldn’t be blocked. lol. I finally saw fluff for what it was tho. A tool to sell clicks.
Media articles do nothing for my optimism. Message board misinformation either. Give me some Facts , Stats and statistics. Even just taking your QB to media days says more to me than an insider article. I’ve always felt the QB needed to be in control of a team. Not just another player.
Most on here read an article and will ignore every fact and stat that doesn’t help their cause.

I am doing my best to temper my expectations, but dang it is hard.
I would love to see UK football make the playoffs within the next 5 years. A DREAM
I think this is possible. I believe in Stein. It would be amazing to catch lightning in a bottle in year one. That would accelerate things and put UK on an amazing projectory.

I really don't understand what you are trying to say in response to my post.

Just that Stein is checking all the boxes and off to an amazing start.
He hasn’t taken the field or coached a game. All this optimism comes from articles designed to convince you. I’ll just wait and see. I did attend the spring game and was very unimpressed.

Stein has checked all the right boxes in the preseason. Still alot of questions to be answered about him as a head football coach that only real games can answer. New offensive coordinator, new quarterback with little D1 experience, brutal SEC schedule, a team that mainly is new to each other. I will be interested in how he handles adversity. I wonder at his clock management, special teams efficacy, how many stupid penalties he teams have each games( his predecessor was poor at all and NEVER improved. Will he alter what's working when we have a lead or keep doing what's isn't when we are are behind. These were other Stoops traits that lost us a bunch of games over the last decade.
It will be an interesting season for sure.
