SP played a good game against a quality opponent. Statesville has some very good athletes in 7, 5, 9, and 6. Ramseur is elusive and tough. Bigger than I gathered from the film I saw. Ryan Etheron was the man tonight. He ran as hard as I have seen this year. If they tried to jam it up, then Goo hit them on the corner. Major kudos to the O line who consistently knocked the Hounds off of the line of scrimmage even thought they knew that 32 was coming straight at them. Defensive secondary was very good. A few catches behind the line of scrimmage, but as I remember only 1 completion and 2 Int's when the ball was thrown downfield. D did a good job of containing some very explosive backs. Proud of the Raiders for beating a very good Statesville team.

Shame that they brought back Mead's great Int return at the end of the 1st half. The call was not block in the back, but a personal foul for a clean block that was made behind the ball. My understanding is that the rules currently say that you cannot block someone when the play is in front of you. The block was at the 50 when Mead was at about the 35. May be the rule, but first time that I have seen it called. Back to back weeks when Mead made a phenomenal pick and return.

I mean I thought the "lateral" yall picked up for the first score was moving forwards. But SP outplayed Statesville and deserved to win. I feel like our offense didn't hit a stride at all until the second half when it was too late.

A few things...
1. Was the lateral pass return for a TD questionable? I didn't think it was a lateral at all but didn't have a good angle. SP player didn't hear a whistle so he got the ball and took it in.

2. Statesville benefitted from a spot on 4th down that allowed them to keep the ball and score their first TD. The spot was beyond horrible. Ball was moved up between 1 yard and maybe 1 1/2 yards to achieve the 1st down.

3. Statesville's center #76 was no picnic for the SP d-line. He was getting people on the ground in a violent manner and continued to maul. On a punt, two SP d-lineman tried to pound on him as payback I guess. Looked like two guys going after the gunner, but instead it was 2 d-lineman trying to pinball the center. Good stuff.

We were directly on line with the QB and it was clearly a backwards pass. No question. Statesville spot on 4th and 2 where it looked like Ramseur maybe gained a half yard was perplexing, but nothing surprises me with these refs today.

Yeah that spot wasn't the best. I wish we would schedule in the regular season. Doesn't hurt that I live in Charlotte and it's easier to get to SP than my Alma matter

SP put on the clinic tonight.... I said a 3 TD win and that's what happened. They just do not beat themselves.

Statesville reminded me somewhat of Ashbrook. They have a lot of superior looking athletes but don't seem to get the best out of them. A Statesville vs. Ashbrook game would have been very interesting.

We were online with that 4th down play. I have never seen such a bad spot by a ref. He spotted it over a yard off at least. It appeared he knew exactly what was needed for the first and damn the play, put the ball where it needed to be to get the first. Really really really bad.

Nice win Raiders. I kept Coondog safe up high in the stands. Statesville has a very, very good line. Those boys can block, especially pass block. Receivers missed routes and dropped passes that were easy. Ramseur did not have a good game with his arm but ran nicely. The Raiders were just pounding that run. Raiders threw two passes. That was the most since 1964.

Why pass the ball when you can average over 5 yards per carry. Ask Statesville how their passing game went? If you can rack up that many yards running, two passes were too many.
