Pretty much ever talking head have anointed the vandygirls as the presumptive NC. They wax eloquently about their dominant offense and pitching despite the fact we had a better team ERA and team BA than they did coming into omaha.

Well that talk and any other is not worth doodlysquat. If we are going to win a NC we will almost certainly have to beat vandy not once but twice. Obviously a win on Tuesday would give us a huge leg up but would still be far from over. We may indeed lay an egg but it is not uncommon for teams on a championship run to have to survive a game like last night.

I think we are now due to break out the whuppin sticks.

Yes, seems like every team that wins it gets some crazy break but you never can tell where/when it will come (Arkansas fly ball). I imagine luck will even out for us (which means we won't play another bad game), and there is no way Rocker comes back and does what he did last week after throwing 136 pitches.

Got to hit the ball, bottom line.

Right....I don't believe I've ever seen a championship won in any sport without having the ball "bounce" right at least a couple of times. We had some good fortune against Miami in the regional (them hitting into double plays at the worst time possible) too. If Lady Luck ain't with you...you might as well stay at the house. Maybe she's on our side this year...time will tell. She damn sure owes us !!!!

I agree about rocker. He pitched lights out against Duke but he has not been overwhelming this season. His ERA is 3.5 and hes 10-5.

If we lay off the stuff in the dirt I think we will be alright. Easier said than done.

Would you put any of Duke's players in our lineup? No offense to Rocker but...

he did that against a team that hit in the .260's as a club. Granted a 19 K no hitter is unbelievable at any level. I think we'll get our hits. Just have to cash them in a little sooner. The Vandy lineup and their mistake free play in the field scares me more than their pitching. We won't be gifted anything in this one.

Pretty much every one of Rocker’s Ks last week was on a slider out of the zone. Gonna have to be patient, lay off the slider, and wait on a fastball in the zone.

Rocker no hit a Duke team which scored double digit in a win over Fellows, Vandy’s ace, in the first game.

Uh, that was fellows first loss of the year. Rocker has lost 5 and is almost half of the total number of losses the team has suffered. I would tend to look at the sum total of their performances for the year and say that Fellows had an exceptionally bad game and Rocker had an exceptionally good one against Dook.

Rocker's stat lines for his last 3 SEC regular season games: 3 runs on 5 hits in 5.2 innings against USCe, 3 runs on 6 hits in 6 against Missou and 4 runs on 8 hits in 7 against UK. If my math is right, his ERA over those 3 games was 4.82

We HAVE to score early if we can. Even do some things like bunt, hit and run or behind the runner to get people in scoring position. We need to put as much pressure as we can on these guys. I don't feel like they have been in as many pressure situations as we have. As last night showed, our guys handle pressure like pros now. You never saw them slam a bat or glove down in frustration. We need to throw as much pressure as we can on them.

Which is better than his first three. Just curious, why did you toss out his outing against LSU in the SECT?

I agree with the pit up or shut up. I’m quoting just because I’ve never seen anyone type out doodlysquat. Gave me a good chuckle. My granny says doodlysquat about things worthy of doodlysquatness

Because I was responding to your statement that he was more consistent over the last half of the season. His best stretch during the regular season was the 3 games immediately prior to the 3 I posted about, when he gave up only 4 runs in 19 innings.

Are you disputing that he was more consistent over the last half of the season?

He was 2-4 on April 7. That "best stretch" you referred to was in the 2nd half of the season.
