And maybe of the year - holding IU scoreless for 9:19 on a 22-0 run. That just doesn't happen, especially for RU against a storied program. Wow! Just wow! Such incredible defense tonight after we went down 29-19 - we simply smothered them, even though they were more athletic than us. We used positioning, help and our very good length to defend so well, contesting every shot and getting a little luck too. Phenomenal run and then we closed it out, despite getting a little shaky at the end.

Geo and Eugene were serious leaders out there and Harper played a strong game especially on D against Langford (Coach P called out how well he played in the post-game interview), while everyone else contributed, at least on defense. Mathis didn't have his best offensive game, but he was strong on D - same for Myles. And Kiss and Carter provided some much needed offense off the bench.

We also rebounded well, outrebounding them 32-24. Another key stat was only committing 1 TO in the last 13 minutes of the first half, after committing 7 in the first 7 minutes - much easier game when you take care of the ball, defend, rebound and make at least some shots - and get to the line. And we didn't chuck up a bunch of treys and did well on the ones we did hoist (5-12, keeping under Pike's goal of max 13 per game). Love how we're playing and there are more wins to come if we keep playing like this. I'm so happy right now after so many years of just pure dreck around here. Nice turnout by the fans too and it got loud a bunch of times. 11-9/4-6 - not bad.

At one point the 3pt % was again higher than field goal %.

Did that hold up?

Cutting back on the turnovers after the poor start was massive. Same script as the Nebraska game. Now we just have to figure out how not to be sluggish out of the locker room.

Yes...22-0 runs are nice. I couldn't believe it.

The Indiana players looked dejected at the end of the first half, having given up 9 points of a 10 point lead. But they looked determined at the start of the second half. And then as Rutgers took the lead and went up a few points, you could see all confidence drain from their faces. They knew they were going to lose again.

Yep, TOs are huge for this team (and most teams, I guess) and we're so much better when we are smart with the ball, because most of our TOs are bad passes or poor dribbling, not the other team making great plays.

Would be so cool now to beat OSU on the road. Not counting on it, but hey, why not?

Agreed. Rutgers imparted their will. As Crispin said "Rutgers likes to make it ugly." When Rutgers can make it ugly and win is even better. IU got smacked in the face and had no response. RU played with a toughness and determination for most of the game last night. They are believing in themselves and that is a wonderful thing.

This wasn't a case where Indiana didn't show up. IU gave it all they had last night.
