Do you think we find out this week, before game time, who the starter is?

The longer it draws out the more I wonder just how much Boomer is pushing Skipper. I still think Skipper is the starter this year.

Yes...So do I....However, it seems more probable that Boomer has possibly
developed to the point that he may be the backup......We have to have a
passer in the game, no matter what.....

Prediction: Skipper and it will be announced after the final preparation session. Boomer is the starter by the end of the year, either due to injury or non-performance. Hefley had his shot, wasnt ready and is now a non-option. President will be doing what President has been doing since he arrived on campus -- Situational packages where he looks for mismatches or takes no gain on the ground. President is the emergency starter. Brin redshirts and finishes the year wondering about a possible transfer. For those of you scoring at home, this should be Jabe Burgess' senior year. Instead, he is playing open mic in NW Arkansas and hoping to save enough money to move to Nashville.

Huffy is probably correct on Skipper starting and President in situational role. If we get the opportunity I hope Monty plays Boomer late in games. Although Hefley likely wasn’t a great fit for this style offense (I think Bill recruited him and Monty honored his commitment) I really felt bad for him in the Temple game. He probably didn’t get many snaps with the first unit in practice, o-line didn’t protect him well and it was not a good experience.

One of my criticisms of Monty is not using his back up QB’s when he has a chance. Rubley rarely got in to relieve Dane in 2016 season and President was hurt. If Dane had gone down Rubley would have had limited game experience.

Why don’t they just turn president into a receiver. It’s apparent that he won’t start. Make him a receiver or tight end.

He might be an interesting H back similar to how Charles Clay was used. He could also take direct snaps which would be an interesting wrinkle to our running game.

Unless something has drastically changed between the last scrimmage and now, skipper will start and boomer will back him up. Both looked good enough to win some games (not perfect, but better than last year).

What if we all just agreed that we want to get the best players the ball whenever we can and that maybe giving the ball directly to a very athletic player who can run all over the field and maybe toss the ball to a wide open target for a few packages a game isnt a bad idea for a few packages a game. You can call him a WR taking direct snaps or a kicker for all I care.

That putting him in there for one play thing and that one play is a QB keeper to the left which is pretty much all he did was worthless.

Redshirts can play quite a bit now without losing a year.

I'm fairly confident we see Skipper trot out at for the first snap. I don't think it will be announced before game day.

It's hard to trust a first snap to a redshirt Freshman and Monte has not shown a tendency to go out on a limb with a new player, so I think Boomer sits for a while unless something spurs him on (injury, incredibly poor performance by Skipper).

Everyone seems to say President is a great leader and a great guy, but then adds that his throwing stats don't add up for an offense like the one everyone expects to see at Tulsa. I think he finds a new role this year (unless he has done something different in the off season or things go terribly wrong with Boomer and Skipper). I really hope he does, because athletically he is clearly capable and if half of what I hear on football IQ and leadership is true... he could really be a factor.

Yes. But this is a team that picks their guy

wbat the coaches can do with players put into decision making positions is a much broader category than what conservative coaches like Monty will do.
