I know the season isn’t over, but discussions such as this are always fun. Assuming Skelton doesn’t return for his senior season bc of the draft, who is behind the dish for the bulldogs next year? At the beginning of the season, I assumed Hayden Jones was a shoe in for the job. Now that the season has progressed, I don’t think it’s that simple. Luke Hancock has looked solid in his appearances. Jones has a CANNON attached to his right shoulder. And he did hit one of the most impressive HR’s of the season. But Hancock looks like he can handle this level of ball, as well. Either way, competition bw players at positions is always a good thing. And to have 2 true freshman performing the way they have at one of the most important positions on the field is refreshing. Thoughts?

Jones has to prove that he can do more than hit either a HR or just fly out. I think he will improve at the plate and we are set for the next 2 years. I could see one DH when the other is behind the plate.

Whichever is better there defensively. I feel like both bats will be regularly in the lineup.

As of his moment I like Hancock. The kid looks like he’s just waiting his turn to make a huge contribution. As long as they are serviceable behind the plate, it really comes down to who is better defensively at that position.

Jones is the catcher unless he just cannot hit SEC pitching. Hancock's name will be somewhere in the everyday hitting lineup.
