He would wilt in the moment. Only time he pitches well is when there is nothing on the line in relief. I personally don't think we have much choice but to roll Harding out there and see how far he can go. Most of our other pitchers that are left I don't even trust to not walk or hit people. And if you give ND gift baserunners they have already shown they will make you pay.

This. The time for experimenting with Cerantola has long passed. He is not going to be part of plans A, B, or C tonight. I mean if we find ourselves in the 18th inning, then sure, maybe he’s in play at that point, but short of that, we’re not seeing him tonight.

Some of you guys come up with the craziest ideas. No coach would throw up a Hail Mary like this in this situation. Talk about inviting scrutiny on yourself. Lose game 3 of a super by starting a pitcher that you’ve put on the shelf because he can’t throw strikes.

Despite what happened yesterday, we can beat them as easily as they can beat us. Some people act like this is a David vs. Goliath kind of matchup that and we don't have a prayer unless we "pull out all the stops".

For me, it’s not so much an infatuation with Cerantola as it is a belief that we need something special today to win, and I don’t think we’ll get that out of anyone not named Sims. Pitching has just been too inconsistent all year

Maybe it’s just me being pessimistic, but I felt that we needed to go 2-0 this weekend to take the series, and if we went to a game 3, we’d be in big trouble. In SEC play, our Sunday pitching has been giving up nearly 7 runs/gm as compared to 4 on Fri/Sat, and when you throw this ND lineup into the equation, I don’t see another outcome other than them hammering us if we stick with the status quo.

Don’t get me wrong.. starting Cerantola is probably a bad move, I get it. But I also think we’re going to need something extraordinary today, and we don’t have a long list of arms capable of that kinda performance. Here’s to Harding, Simmons, etc making me look silly later

Actually, he is who I would have brought in yesterday after it was 6 to 1. It was obvious that the game was over by that time. After taking several 96'ers in the ribs, they may have been too sore to play today.

IF the staff wanted to see him one last time, it would have been last Sunday nt w/ a 12 run lead in the 9th against VCU, not in THE game to decide who goes to Omaha. I just don't get the season long infatuation of a few, sure he can throw it though a damn brick wall but if he cant throw it for a strike and hands out free passes to 1st base like they are cheap mardi gras beads at a parade what good is it? Then on the occasion he gets one across the plate it will score 2 or 3 and then what?

Our Sunday issues have pointed squarely to the inconsistency of Fristoe. If we make it more of a bullpen day we should be able to minimize damage. I expect us to score runs today.

Pitching Certantola would exacerbate our typical sunday issues. Cerantola is Fristoe on steriods when it comes to lack of command.

Tonight we will have a quick leash on everyone we put in the game because just about everyone on the roster is available to throw in this game. I would pull whoever we started in the first inning if they got into any sort of trouble (unless we start sims). Tonight is not the night to have to come in and not have your “A” stuff if you want to stay in the game.
