Starting to see some people in the south getting their orders processed and getting their equipment sent. Anyone getting theirs yet or heard of someone? I see a couple of orders filled in North Mississippi on Reddit.

Just went to see if I have access to it and I do. But it’s $99 a month and $500 for equipment. My internet isn’t great, really isn’t even good, when I call directv every year and threaten to leave, I only pay a little over a $100 for tv and internet. Was hoping it was going to be cheaper so I could get it and one of the streaming services, but they are getting just as expensive too

Yeah but when your only access to broadband is HughesNet it’s a no brainer. We don’t have access to broadband at the farm and HughesNet is barely adequate enough to run quickbooks.

Was thinking of getting this for our RV, but it requires one stationary address. Lame.

The speeds they are getting require precise antenna/dish and currently only work in certain regions. If you're in motion or parking in a different area you'll do just fine with 1 or 2 mobile hotspots from different cell providers which I'm guessing you already have

4cty Power is bringing unlimited 200mbs download speeds or even faster internet to it's service area for 55-65 a month with no contracts.

I am going to a meeting about that next week for Webster Co.

I still may end up going with Starlink for the lake house if I move there in a couple years. New Albany power and light has no plans to do such for it's community. They don't even cut the trees back from the main power lines. They have no plans of bringing the internet to rural MS even if a grant will pay for it all.

4 county is still 1.5 years away from my part of the county getting their fiber. I will rock with Starlink until 4 county becomes available to me. I keep waiting to see that I am a go for starlink. Anything is an improvement over hughesnet.

This is why folks need to get involved and challenge the dinosaurs on these boards. Didn’t an EPA in Pontotoc take that stance and lose some board members over it?

hell right now I have a choice of two fiber internet providers in Cspire and Tombigbee EPA. I’m running Cspire because they lit it up first.

Sorry farmer. But I am going to be your enemy on this one.... Musk is planning on putting 42,000 of his bedroom dresser sized satellites in the sky at a low earth orbit of a few hundred miles. That's like a celestial herd of free range buffalo. I think space is still the wild west and everything is fair game.

I'm going to pitch Bezos and his public space flight company Blue Origin on the idea of Galactic Safaris.

"Yeah Bob, I see you killed an Elephant and a Lion on your trip to Africa. But you ain't done **** till you tracked down a 500 pound space buffalo at 17,500 mph and blasted his *** with a laser."

ETA. If Bezos balks, I am going to the gaming and drone companies to pitch real world Spaced Invaders. We can let kids shoot them down from their Xbox's with a modified version of Fishwater's drone.

That article (like most these days) was just a bit to opinionated for me. "Erratic" or otherwise, it's a vast improvement over the nothing I already have. I'll talk my chances with Elon.

The federal money behind the electric cooperatives providing fiber internet is not available to city or municipal electric companies. It has to be a cooperative. I’m in a rural area but my electricity is provided by a municipality in the next county. I’m screwed.

It’s speeds blow away HughesNet. I’m not looking for fiber internet from the sky, just enough to do basic things and 17ing QuickBooks because HughesNet can’t even do that consistently.

Yes. I have fam from there and was told that one of the blue hairs stated that "he had high speed at his house and he did not see what the fuss was about".

https://www.att.com/internet/fixed-wireless/

I replaced hugesnet with AT&T fixed wireless, $60 for 250 g a month, it is fast enough to stream. Doesn't go out because of the weather. No contract. It is tied into the money that AT&T got for improving broadband access during Covid.

ATT is horrible. The old BellSouth had 2 billion earmarked for fiber in the rural south and when ATT bought them out they just kept the money and never did the upgrades.

Unless your in a major town, ATT is worthless. 6 mb downloads if you can get their ****** DSL in the country.
