Wow, really? You are one of the few that I have heard negative comments. I'm hoping to see it on the 27th.

Won't give you any spoilers, but I grew up a Star Wars person. The prequels stunk.......Rogue One was awesome. The Force Awakens was "OK". This one.......SUCKED.

Thanks and also bama. I'm not a Star Wars person but have seen them all. I thought Force Awakens was better than "ok". I didn't like the prequels. I'm looking forward to two hours of mindless entertainment.

Not to change subject, but I'm a fan of Marvel and especially Thor. Saw the latest Thor last weekend and was deeply disappointed even though it is rated as an A where I look at reviews. They went too far off script of the Thor character and storylines of the comic book. Way off.

Saw Star Wars: A New Hope in Olympia, WA in June 1977 (after a tour of the Olympia Brewery). It was great, audience cheering and booing. Episodes 4, 5 and 6 were great. The prequels (Episodes 1, 2 and 3) were abominable. Force Awakens, Rogue One and Last Jedi were all excellent.

What is it about so many (not all) of the prequels to good movies? The Lord of The Rings trilogy is the best. The Hobbit prequels with Martin Freeman were not very good.

I'm still conflicted. On one hand I appreciate what they were trying to do with the story, on the other hand, it feels.... bland and boring.

I'm going to have to see it again. I don't mind how they handled Luke, Mark Hamill actually gave his best performance ever as Luke, and I don't mind Rey and Kylo, but would have like more on Snoke.

IMHO I would have taken these movies a different route, but its too late for that. Also, this movie, IMO, also sets up bringing back Lando, which they damn well should.

My older son saw it last night and hated it. He pointed out that the dialogue was a complete departure from Lucas films. Too much comedy.

Departure? So, the dialogue was actually good then? Under the Lucas films the dialogue was horrible.

Probably more comedy than other SW films but I don’t think it killed the movie. It was Guardian Of The Galaxy like at times with the humor...and that was fine with me. I’m guessing those that didn’t like it wanted it to be darker.

(WARNING) So many good responses on why it failed (SPOILERS for those who haven't watched):

1) They completely disrespected Luke's character with his lines and limited scenes.

2) Leia should have been killed off at the end instead of Holdo.....just my opinion, it would have been the perfect way to bridge the next Star Wars in 2 years now that Carrie Fisher has died.......and would have left Leia with an awesome legacy. Now they will have to write it in that she's died or something, without actually seeing it.

3) The stupidest scene was with Leia "floating" in space, then looking like Mary Poppins flying back to the ship......I mean, come on........really?

4) Rey is not very interesting to me as a character. She just doesn't "fit" the Star Wars franchise.

5) Did anyone else notice a bunch of feminism in this episode? ALL the "leaders" were female, scolding males, and taking control.........reminded me of my house........[laughing]

1) I disagree, what type of Luke did you foresee in these movies?
2) I agree. Probably hard to do though considering she died after those scenes were filmed. I have no idea how they are going to handle her in the next film.
3) I didn't really mind that all that much, but I assumed, when I saw her sucked out, that it was a editing move to take her out of the series and explain her real life death.
4) She does seem a little bland at times.
5) Unfortunately I think producers, and Disney, are trying to incorporate PC aspects into the films.

I really think they should bring back Lando in the next movie, and let him become the new leader of the "Resistance".... which... honestly.... why a "Resistance"? Why isn't just the New Republic's military? Abrams IMHO failed miserably explaining the new government and power establishment that was created post ROTJ. They should have given a little more back story to what happened.

Rian Johnson is a boss. He's the only reason I'd even think about watching that movie.

I saw it, enjoyed most of it and saw a few things that were odd. There are a couple scenes that are very cool!
The Star Wars purists are angry but, after thinking about the film for a couple days, it was time to break away from the typical Star Wars movie mold.

Just returned from seeing it. I fully agree with this sentiment as well.
