Oh how I wish they would put a bullet in the head of this franchise...every damn one of these made after the original 3 way back in the day has sucked dead donkey sweaty balls. My son keeps dragging me to these things and all I can say is thank God movie theaters sell beer now, and the recent Star Wars movies are ones I actually look forward to having to get up to pee when I have to go see one.

The original 3 weren't good movies either. I'm not as hard on the star wars franchise as some are and can say that I've enjoyed every one of them but if I'm being honest, Rogue One is the only "good" movie in the series.

I actually like the newer ones. The late 90s were tragically bad. and the classics are just damn good.

Return of the Jedi and the Last Jedi are my favorites.

The Last Jedi was fantastic IMO.

I went to the new one last night as part of a corporate event, and was so bored during it. These movies have made me question whether the originals sucked and I was just too young to understand that, or whether the originals were good, and my recollection is correct. In any case, agreed that it's a good thing it's finally over.

My biggest issues with the entirety of the Star Wars franchise is that there is absolutely no character development, and their tendency to introduce new villains who are all of a sudden really important to the storyline only to kill them off with no explanation of why they were important.

Imagine the thought process that went into creating characters like Dooku, Greivous, Snoke, and even Vader or Palpatine. "We're going to introduce this guy and make insinuations about how terrible and powerful they are, give them control over the entire galaxy, and then just kill them". The original trilogy was only saved from this because the prequel trilogy bailed it out 25 years later.

Not to mention the fact that other than ewan McGregor and Harrison Ford, there is no good acting in any of them outside of Rogue One.

I gotta say, of all the Star Wars movies made, Rogue 1 and The Empire Strikes back are my two favorites. It probably has something to do with being able to look at Felicity Jones for a couple hours straight, but it had a decent story line for Star Wars movies, and had some pretty cool CGI.

The Last Jedi ruined Star Wars for me. I liked all the movies. Even the prequels that a lot of people hate. I read many of the books and even had some canvas Star Wars art in my basement (yes I’m single, shocker). But Last Jedi was so bad that I don’t really consider myself a fan anymore.

Ha, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't really go crazy for the series but I've enjoyed these last 3, including Solo and Rogue. I'm not a mega fan or anything so I'm not going to argue in their favor or anything.

I'm excited to see the new one. I'll take Dad and FIL Christmas eve

The profit margins for modern movies are pretty tight, as is the investment that a crew is willing to make. The lord of the rings trilogy took TEN YEARS to complete, and $300 million. The hobbit movies took 18 months. The script for some of them was being written as they were shooting. They would actually dress the characters, make them wait all day, and then send them back to their hotels because the script wasn't finished. Movies have actually found it profitable to film scenes and then just mash them together...and often the resolution isn't even written when filming starts.

I don't really watch movies any more. Most new movies are so bad I don't even give them 10 minutes. I was born in '81 and had Luke and Darth toys. So, I have the Star Wars excitement pre-wired. I loved Godzilla as a child too so his movies and Pacific Rim/Cloverfield have a soft spot too

I completely agree. Movies ain’t what they used to be. Everybody relies too heavily on CGI nowadays. I don’t even know what’s in theatres right now besides the new Star Wars.

I enjoyed the original three as a kid.

Now I look at these like I do the marvel movies. They are good escapist entertainment. More importantly, my kids like them. It gives us some family bonding time and we enjoy them together. Thats all that matters.

Heck I have been watching mediocre football for years and still wouldnt trade the shared gameday experiences I have with my sons for anything.

Also, I have many friends. I am not a neckbeard. I dont live in my parent’s basement. And I dont give a damn what you think anyway.

Rey is Palpatines grandaughter. She kills him and saves the world. Kylo Ren dies a hero. Leia dies of old age or something. Rey goes by Rey Skywalker because reasons. Screw Disney for killing this franchise

You're missing out then. I've seen a few movies in the last few months that I would consider good to very good movies.

Dark Waters
Knives Out
The Irishman
Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
*Ford vs Ferrari

*probably my favorite of the group

There is this, which indicates that when it comes to Star Wars, the critics and the public diverge.

It appears Woke Disney watched this video from several years ago on how to make Star Wars better. I guess anyone that went to go see it already can verify if they went and made a Mary Sue character. Sounds like they did.

The Jedi’s are so freaking lame that as a kid watching the old and 90s Star Wars I rooted for the dark side to win and for all of the Jedi to die

I agree. The Prequels and Episodes 7 and 8 could have been so much better. Not terribly excited to see the new one but I will go eventually. Nothing has come close to the magic of the original trilogy.

Rogue One was pretty good and I do think the Mandalorian series is really good.

I thought Solo was good. Rouge one was ok.

The Mandalorian so far is fantastic, I LOVE the music for the show, very spaghetti western like.

I hope they don't put too much of that goofy dumb Will Farrel(sp) type humor in it and ruin it.
