If he can't be a consistent winning Coach at OSU, really don't think he would stand much of a chance at Vandy with the tougher standards for recruits.

Because we want to win, not be mediocre. Hence, why we moved on from Stallings.
Amaker is not an upgrade in any way, shape or form from Kevin Stallings.
I like Tubby and if we can't find anybody else, I would be ok hiring Tubby Smith, but we would have to have a lot of misses prior to.

Not expecting too much, others are expecting not crappier coaches.
I never said we'll land Coach K, or even an established coach. I think we have to get an up and comer personally, but money won't be an issue and we have a very solid basketball program (facilities, money, fan support, not playing second fiddle to football, great degree, fantastic city).
We are a sleeping giant if our AD wants to play ball. This is a much different era than even 17 years ago when we hired Kevin Stallings. Every game is on tv now, we send players to the NBA and we have a $260,000 diploma to offer in a great city.
Laugh if you want, but from a logic standpoint, we should land a quality coach.
I'm not laughing. The jury is out on what a quality coach is to a program like Vanderbilt. The truth is, while Vanderbilt has money to pay, the athletic department has long been way down the priority list for the University. It hasn't been that long ago that David Williams wore many hats, including athletic director. They like to think they care about athletics but haven't really proven it with the top income producing sports. We shall see.
I think they will get a young guy who says he's willing to build it over the next 10 years. Wade seems to be coming up a lot.
There is some buzz about Gregg Marshall to VU, but I just don't think there is any way that guy moves. He's paid 3.3 and has a long term deal. The catch is that timing may be good. He and his wife are great friends with Tim Corbin and his wife and rumor is that he wants to end up back in the south. If we are willing to pay 4, we may have a shot, but that's a big if and a bigger may.
I think when the dust settles, we will hire Will Wade or Matt McCall.

Yep, saw that. Not the end of the world, but he is somebody I would have been excited about.
Rumor is that VU is targeting some bigger names, which is fine... as long as you land one, or don't miss out on some of the others you were to be targeting.
I don't know what to expect, but from what I'm hearing, we're going to be throwing some cash around (around 4 million per). I still think we end up with a guy like Matt McCall (or Will Wade, but that is looking less likely).

Whiny arse Stallings is FINALLY gone from the SEC!!!!! He's Pitt's and the ACC's problem now, and good riddance as far as I'm concerned.
