Here's my take on this move.
The Winners:
1) Kevin Stallings - he had done all he could at Vandy. It wasn't going to get much better. The SEC is poised to take a step up with some of the new coaches that came into the league. If that happens, the heat is going to be on the tenured guys to stay on top. Now he has a new start. He won't have high expectations for a couple years, so he has some breathing room.
2) The Vandy Athletics Department - they don't have to deal with firing stallings. The contract issues are taken care of. They get a fresh start and the fans will have some patience with the new coach for a couple of years.
3) The Pitt Athletics Department - they get a new coach from a nationally recognized program. So, the fans will be open to the hire. And, Stallings has the potential to do some good things if he can recruit at a high level.
The wait and see group:
The Vandy Fans - Stallings was a decent coach. They could do better. But, the problem with a decent coach is you could also do a lot worse.
The Pitt Fans - Stallings has potential. He has done some nice things in the past with the players he had. The question for Pitt fans will be, did he have those players because of the academic restrictions at Vandy or was that just the best he could do.
