Attrition isn't always a bad thing. We have 3 very promising young QBs who will be either FR or SO this season. You really don't need more than 1 good QB per class. Whoever is #3, it's probably best for both him and the program if he leaves.

It's actually better for us if he stays one more season in case fitz gets hurt. Might not be bad for him either if we could guarantee him a release in January and allow him to immediately be eligible at another school for his junior year.

I wonder if he ever took it seriously base on his loose personality. If he does transfer to play basketball, can he play immediately since he was on a different sport scholly?

Someone is leaving. He seems like the most likely candidate.

Well, nobody HAS to leave, but if someone decides they want to leave you would think they would at least give it a few weeks of practice to see where things are shaking out. Have we even had a major scrimmage yet?

It isn't always a bad thing, but it is never a good thing when you only have 79 players on scholarship to begin with. We have nothing to gain by losing anybody before December.

Sucks. I wanted him to stick it out. I wanted Williams to transfer. Can we stop with the "we still have 3 good QBs..." We have 2 unproven that we're excited about and then we have Williams. He is not good.

Staley was just a third unproven that we're excited about. He could be an awesome player, but whoever wins should be a pretty decent to good SEC QB.

Why do you and other people say that? He was just having fun. Jesus H. You don't have to be a 17ing lunatic like Nick Saban to take football seriously. Does Cam Newton take it seriously when he celebrates? What about Deion Sanders? Surely he took it seriously, maybe not though because he was always cutting up.

Agreed there. I'm just not a Williams fan. If he's our starter, we're a bottom of the West team. Further, the way he acted on Twitter after Bob's beard story was so immature a petty. And he's supposed to be the oldest QB but he's the ringleader (along w/Fitz) of some bs. Don't forget the spring break incident with Dak. Every time there is a situation involving MSU QBs that is a bad look, he's in the middle of it.

has to leave. Why not him?

Nobody has to leave for now. 4 QBs is NOT too many to have. Wesley Carroll (in Croom's bowl year) became the starter from 3rd string because Henig and Riddell got knocked out with injuries. Now I agree that after this season whoever has fallen down the depth chart probably needs to leave given Thompson is coming in for next year. Five QBs is too many.

Fair enough, but I think the QB production on the field under Williams will be just as good as any of the alternatives. If the goal is to win games in 2016, I think Williams puts up as good of numbers as Fitz or Tiano.

I see the first 3 or 4 games being a rotation between Fitz and Williams with Tiano getting mop up duty. The bye week will settle it out some.

Exactly, we have three qb's regardless.

If Fitz gets hurt, do you want to roll with a RS freshman Tiano, Williams, or Staley? As bad as our Oline is likely to be, I want the best backup qb possible cause we easily could need him to start for much of the season.

Why should Staley be concerned with what is best for MSU fans? He seems to be more concerned with his caree more than falling a slot on MSU's game day depth chart - and rightly so.

I got Damien Williams as our starter......

....he has got a Canon arm and actually throws too hard sometimes. I have Fitz as a close second and likely that Tiano will back up those two. Wasn't enough PT for a 4th QB and Staley likely found out he was bringing up the rear, thus transferred. I do think that the 3 we have left with can all get the job done and all will play a lot. Most likely the starter will boil down to Williams or Fitzgerald the majority of games.

Does Staley have this dearth of experience that I am unaware of?

The fourth string QB just transferred, not Joe Montana.

Relax man, who do you think Staley was? He was an unproven qb, except he was the only one whose feet weren't quick enough to run Mullen's offense. He's a drop back passer and would be much more valuable in that type of offense.

And Williams is a good qb, in fact, he would have been a great qb for us 20 years ago. He's compact, solid, runs pretty good, and is a exceptional intermediate passer. He's also won an SEC game for us. He's limited by his height, but to say he isn't any good is flat out ********.
