Branham from 247 was on Andy Sweeney's show today and said he thinks UK will get either Bona or Lively, but that Bona is probably announcing in about a month and Lively is in no hurry. Please let's not miss on both.
Good to see the UK staff visiting before he trips to KU. If I’m Cal I take Bona and tell Lively Bona is the 5 and I want you as my PF.

I agree but lock up Bona first and the staff can put UK in his mind before he goes to Convict U this weekend. I know Self is throwing all kinds of cash and a NIL contract with his toupee company.

I know Lively is a dude....but Bona is no slouch either....imo if Bona wants to come, you take him and see if you can convince Lively they can play together....passing is a big risk imo
I fully agree. Last thing I read Lively's mom was talking about other trips including Michigan. His recruitment could go into spring.

I agree that you obviously get both if possible, but selling Lively as the 4 (what he wants) and selling Livingston as the 4 is eventually going to come to a head if we get them all.

maybe you go Livingston at the 3 (he’s a perfectly natural 3 if there ever was one), Lively 4 and Bona 5 and play a more traditional lineup than the 4 out Cal is lauding publicly. Let Clark be the spark plug 6th man for either guard spot.

I’m just saying that making promises gets sticky and that guys, families, coaches, handlers, etc remember if you don’t do right by them. Sometimes that doesn’t matter. And sometimes it’s worth the risk. This is probably one of those times, but it isn’t as easy as just saying whatever it takes to land these guys.

I kind of figured Livingston at the 3 anyhow.

Wallace pg
Sharpe sg
Livingston sf
Lively S4
Bona 5

that makes all the sense in the world since those are their natural positions, but as soon as the Livingston momentum picked up there was talk of him being sold at the 4 and that it would make Bona/Lively an either/or situation.

I’ve no idea the validity of that. But it sure seems like everything around it has come to pass so far, so I guess we’ll see.

Obviously the staff is still chasing Lively. And they’re visiting Bona tomorrow. And Livingston may be a Cat by the time I hit post on this reply, so who knows?

Livingston was recruited to be the small ball 4 here. I’m not sure how that effects Bona and/or Lively, but that’s the word. I’ve heard it constantly the past couple weeks.

Also, it’s been the Bona camp that doesn’t think that Bona and Lively can co-exist on the same team. Now that could always change and hopefully it does. Makes it intriguing since Bona’s commitment will be first. At least as of right now.

I will believe Cal plays a SF as a PF when I see it. Livingston as SF, Lively as PF, Bona as C.

I dont understand why Duke is even a player. Didnt they get their center in fillipowski (however you spell his name)
So even if Bona commits (lets hope) why would that hurt in lively's recruitment.

If you watch Livingston's interview with Jason Jordan he calls himself a guard. With Cal saying he's going 4 out, one in that puts Lively or Bona at the 5 in a small ball lineup. If he goes more traditional then Lively is a stretch 4 with Bona at the 5. Both kids would get tons of minutes either way and we have some versatility.

Maybe Bona's camp has dreams that he can be a four. No way in the world that is happening.

One thing for sure...whatever Cal and staff are telling these guys. It's working

That's the squad I'm hoping for. Hopefully Hopkins Ware Allen and Frederick come back. I think everyone else is gone by one route or another.
Wheeler ain't going anywhere and that's a good thing. Don't have to worry about a pg not being college ready in November. Plus, he can facilitate and teach the freshmen the ropes.

Yeah if we have those four and Clark off the bench, that's a mean lineup in itself - Clark, Fredrick, Allen, Hopkins, Ware.

Likewise, any one of Wheeler, Tshiebwe, Toppin, Collins, and Brooks could possibly be back for one reason or another.
