I can't blame the staff it's about Cal. But, what it shows is Cal is not going to get someone better than himself or that has the experience to be a true coach to make change.

What I think should be as concerning is it would seem like this very well could be Cal's last season and thus recruiting will be a mess and when he leaves the program will be in a disaster (if it isn't already).

If this ends up being the case, I think the most important takeaway is Cal not planning to coach much longer. If you’re planning on 2 more years or less do you really want the hassle of firing/interviewing/hiring/building relationships?

Is this really an issue with him? First I've heard of this.
There was a lot of smoke about how he was more concerned with being out on the town than coaching. I will say In the past two years I've been to three games at Rupp and then went across the street to Tony's for dinner after the game. In two of those games Chin was there dressed to the nines at the bar area very soon after the game.

Very small sample size, having it happen twice when I'm in Lexington basically once a year is probably a sign it happens quite often.

This confirms to me that Cal and Mitch will ‘retire’ after next year. Cal doesn’t wanna take anyone’s hearts on his way out the door.

Not sustainable. Don't know how anyone would buy tickets or travel at this point. Cal is gonna do whatever he wants completely unchecked. He knows what he is doing and he does not care. He has no intention of changing thins to try and win. Coaches making 500k to 1M a year just sitting around.

Lots of middle aged divorcee tail there the only time I went. Target rich environment I suppose. Maybe he should focus that effort on the D scout and game prep.

Meh. Whatever. I never thought assistant coach changes would do anything. Cal already did that in previous years and it didn’t work. Hiring Antigua back didn’t make a difference. At this one we’re all just waiting to see how much mediocrity Mitch is willing to accept.

Can only hope the fans make life as miserable on cal next year as his last year will be on the fans. And by that I expect for him to be booed mercilessly when he’s announced at every single home game. Boo his *** like a bad call that cost us a game. Make it loud and long and every game is worse than the game before.

Is anybody actually shocked. When Mitch let cal go on the radio and do his normal bs we should have all knew what was coming. Cal can do whatever he wants whenever he wants and Mitch isn’t gonna do a thing about it

I'm not surprised. At the same time, I never expected that staff changes would have any effect on the team's performance whatsoever - short of locking Cal in a bathroom stall during practices and games.

Whether he changes some coaches or doesn't change any coaches, there will be no difference.

MAYBE...... Cal has informed Mitch that this is his last year and there is no point in hiring new assts for just 1 year. The staff remains the same and we endure 1 last high school all-star team getting manhandled by 24 yr olds.
Cal hits the bricks April 2025.
