Stadium Seatbacks

Looking to get my own seatbacks to bring into the stadium next season. We currently rent them, and while the rentals are nice, I feel like I could get something of my own that’s high-quality and doesn’t come with a yearly fee. Does anyone have any recommended brands or models? Also, has anyone run into any issues bringing their personal seatbacks into the stadium?

Still hard to believe folks have to rent seat-backs. They should have extended the back support bleachers around the entire stadium. What’s the seat set-up at most B10 stadiums?

The stadiums I been to, don’t have them. And also have been much tighter in width . I remember Michigan was absurd. Basically had the guy next to me in my lap. Can’t recall if people brought their own setbacks but I can’t imagine they would fit in the allotted space per seat there. Most Americans don’t fit in the allotted seat there. Maybe when they built it 90% of people did

upper deck at RU has back support bleachers. Seat backs, however, guarantee my space (for those now very rare occasions we have a somewhat full stadium) and mean I don't have to sit on an ice cold metal bench

looking at photos from my B1G travels:

USC: actual seats on the lower level
Nebraska: seat backs
Ohio State: no seat backs
PSU: pretty sure no seat backs
Iowa: seat backs
Michigan: no seat backs (although, I sat in the glassed in section of their stadium club and they are actual seats there)
Wisconsin: seat backs
VT: seat backs
Kansas: no seat backs

MN has individual seatbacks too in many areas except for the student section. We should do the same and replace the metal bleachers with individual seatbacks, like they have in the Club and handicapped areas, or even better the cushioned ones they have at Citi Filed in the premium seats. Too many people don't respect the seat numbers and encroach.

As for other stadiums, Michigan and Nebraska are ridiculous with how little space they have for each seat.

You should wait until next year to see what new policies are in place first. You never know what homeland security logic will be put in place to scratch out a few bucks.

I thought Wisconin was much worse than Nebraska, and we had not seatback where we sat in the lower level (about the 10-15 yard line).

In going back to look at my Wisconsin photos, it looks like whoever we bought the tix from had paid for seat cushions with backs. So, while tight , we had our declared space.

My first time at Nebraska was in the 50yd link Keating suite (thanks @huskersalways ) I always remember those seats. When we went back the 2nd time I just remember baking in the sun

Been to many of our peer stadiums in B1G,Sec etc.. very few have seatbacks and I can count on one hand that have seats outside of the high level seats. Not saying our stadium is the most advanced but as far as seat size and comfort it exceeds or is in par. Where we lack is in game production and concessions available.

With the abundance of stadium food, it would be great if RU were the first school to offer both seatbacks and tray tables (which would have to be returned to their upright and locked position as fans exit the arena).

We should have individual chairs in the Stadium and not the cheap aluminum benches. Northwestern’s new Stadium will be amazing. Hopefully down the road on the next renovation we will take out all the benches and replace with real seats. Reduce to capacity to 42,000 and make it a premium experience. Charge more per “seat” and it will pay for itself.

We lack concessions on the upper concourse. It's pitiful.

Game day production is amazing. Game production on the field not so much.

Why stop there? I think they should install La-Z-Boy recliners for everybody.

Ridiculous that ticket buyers can’t bring in portable seat backs and need to rent them instead.

When I go to games, I see empty seat backs everywhere. Why is that?

Keli should use obvious common sense for a change and allow ticket buyers to bring their own seat backs.

Yea I’m upstairs. And we have a grand total of 2 food options. Hot dog or pretzel. And pretzels are usually sold out after 1q.
Your definition of amazing is much different than mine. There are multiple times a game where the production crew and spirit teams are on different schedules. Joe Nolan has been a disaster for years. Team intro and lead in is disjointed and off schedule. I won’t even get into the awful music and volume.

You can bring in your own seat back every game at Rutgers if you want

Thanks for clarification. Any idea why so many empty seat calls are scattered through stadium? I usually sit one.

Anyone remember from years ago a game or two when they wouldn’t let people in with foam seat cushions previously purchased at a stadium concession stand and/or sponsored by STS auto repair shops? -lol

I still have the STS seat cushion. Thing is awesome. But I bought a Rutgers branded seat cushion at the stadium and was told next game I couldn’t bring it in. I walked to another gate and was waved right in. This was after the same idiot was all set to frisk my 80+ year old dad. This all lead me to having a Monday morning call with Ken Cop. Yes the chief of Rutgers police is named Ken Cop

Notre Dame is the worst I've ever been to. No seat backs and numbers about 8" apart. Went with two buddies around 6'3" 260lbs. It was a hot sunny day and I was sandwiched in between the two of them.

We had good seats too, around the 40 and about 30 rows up and it absolutely sucked. Will never go back and will never b*tch about our stadium after that clusterfv*k.

He was very understanding and open to critique. I told him I could understand over aggressive private security guards and targeting a certain age group. But to target an 80 year old man by an officer in Rutgers PD uniform makes zero sense. He acknowledged everyone needs to be trained properly and held to a certain standard.

That was the great a$$ seat cushion caper. I got caught up in that as well. I almost got arrested, because I was so pissed. I was pointing directly at the merchandize store directly to the left of the gate where we had purchased them the prior season.

There were mountains of seat cushions piled on garbage cans. That was all Matt Colagiovanni's fault and of course Rutgers has been promoting him.

Setbacks at VT sucked.

They made the space even tighter and if you were over 6 feet tall your knees would be pushing into the seat back in front of you.

O not to mention if there was a sizable person sitting in front of you their seat would lean back and crush your knees.

Awful.

Yea I remember you having that problem as well. Matt is a special person. Not in a good way. Useless is an understatement.
