Saw Luke Mertens stepped down as HC for the Shamrocks. This was surprising and unexpected (to me at least). Any insight from the Shamrock faithful or other insiders? Did they have another guy lined up? Believe he is an alum of the school as well, which makes it all the more surprising.

I had a thread on this the other day but I think it was scrapped for some reason. Unlike ND I do not think they go and hire from within. Luke is an alum of St Pats and his son currently is a freshman at the school. I don’t have any names to put out at the moment but I have faith in Dan Santucci the president to have a solid list of people to contact.
I think someone made a snide remark about LM. I’d imagine TB the OC is being considered.
With the job he has I do not think he would be able to shoulder running a whole program. Great person to have on staff with the football knowledge he does have

Fantastic hire for the Shamrocks. Mertens was an excellent hire as well, it just didn't work out. Would be great to see the Shamrocks get playoff competitive
Probably the safest hire. I guess DeFranza would be a "high floor, low ceiling" type hire. Zibby maybe a "low floor, high ceiling"? Very, very different hires, obviously.
