Like I’ve said multiple times, all just rumors at this point. At least from my perspective. But I don’t think people have all the info regarding why they moved on from Blackmon and Nissen. For the record, I agree that both were good coaches.

Instead of letting rumors and innuendoes run amuck, tell us, why did they move on from them?
The rumors I am hearing involve the current coaching search. I don’t think any of us have all the facts regarding why they moved on from the last two coaches. Myself included.
I can't say anything about Nissen since it's still in the early rumor stages, but Blackmon was 6 years ago so I feel comfortable saying what I've been told by numerous people within the program was it wasn't because of his coaching ability, he had some good success and turned a dormant program around, but it was his involvement with the team ended there. He didn't like attending or organizing fundraisers, or glad handing the crowds or boosters. Some parents told me he wasn't aggressive at getting their sons to the next level as far as making phone calls. He wasn't a big social media guy getting his players names out there or promoting the program. Nissen seemed to be the complete opposite, he was all over social media promoting the program and players, so what happened there escapes me, guessing different views on the programs direction. A friend said all on the team were shocked and many heartbroken about it. So if that is the case I'm guessing the school will hire a home run no argument choice like the name currently surfacing.
I’ll never believe anything that includes parents not feeling like a coach didn’t help their kid recruited enough.
A big name doesn’t necessarily mean a good coach.

I don't disagree with ya just passing on what I heard from masses. The main reason I believe was the overall involvement with the development of the program from the non game related side
About ten or so years ago, before my mother passed, I was helping her move some stuff around her house when a friend of hers came over with her grandson. Because I officiate, and the grandson played football, that must mean that I could relate to this 17 year old who was bemoaning that his coach wasn't calling colleges for him. I asked him what position he played, and he told me he was the starting center. The kid was maybe 6' and probably weighed no more than 200 pounds. I asked him where he wanted to attend and he said Notre Dame. When I asked about D3 or NAIA, I may as well have murdered his grandmother in front of him.
Long story short: it's not Harold Blackmon, or any HS Coach, that is preventing Marcus Freeman (or Brian Kelly at the time) from sitting at your dining room table.
This is among the most profound words of wisdom I have read in my 17 years on the board. At the same time how do you break it to a 17 year old that you are not going to a D1 or D2 school to play football?
How do you break it to the 17 year old's parents....
Well I have two daughters that each have two left feet, so I think I'll be spared the discussions of college athletics. They're both smart, but not Ivy League smart so that's my only comparison. I think it's all about being honest and shooting them straight. Easier said than done, however.
Maybe I am totally off but kids that are truly honest with themselves know whether or not they are a DI athlete.
It's better to teach kids how to deal with disappointment as opposed to shielding them from it entirely.
