Got an email to from St. Rita that they will be installing new bleachers for the visitor stands. They were able to acquire them from the recently closed Guerin Prep. Stand will hold 710 fans. They should be installed by the end of the month. Now if only they could use them to watch a game.

710 fans? That's it? Home-field advantage, I guess. Is Cascia keeping their home stands?

I am surprised they were actually going to go into this year with out bleachers on that side. Didn't they do that last year?

700 isn't bad....I mean if it's not a big game or a late round playoff game your lucky to get 300 visitors these days. MC rents visitor stands that hold 700 and they haven't been an issue the first season. Rice's hold about 250.

I hear you, Panther, but Rita's visitor stands (even at the old Stadium) had good room for a very good visitor crowd.

I agree that Rita had nice visitor stands, however, it drove me crazy that there were no isles in the middle, so you had to walk over everyone to get to either end to walk up and down.

How many fans do you think the old visitor bleachers held?

MC is the only team SR plays that fills the stands on Friday nights. They should be playing each other in the fall of 21 again. LA would fill the stands if they played SR on a Saturday afternoons. Driving to SR during rush hour on a Friday night from Wilmette IL is torture.

SR is replaying games Friday nights on Youtube. Tonight's game is from the Kirk Herbstreit OH vs US Challenge in 2008. The game was broadcast nationally originally. It nice to watch but since I watched all of these games live I know the outcomes. It's not the same as watching the game live. But it's something.

College's have been offering a steady stream of scholarships to SR's seniors. Jr. Kaleb Brown has a basket full of offers. But All-State Sr. Michael Gaughan looks like he is going to play Lacrosse in college. He was one of the four Illinois players to be on the Butkus watch list this fall. SR has a very good incoming basketball team. One freshman player has already garnered a D1 scholarship offer without playing a varsity game.

I've haven’t watched the NBA since Michael Jordan retired because its boring to me, but I have watched a few Orlando Magic games this year to see SR's Vic Law play. Also been watching Cincinnati Reds outfielder Mark Payton some. But its not Friday night football.

Yes, it was very dangerous getting up there! Great point! Not sure if you can see those stands in "Rudy," but I'd say it was similar to 77th Western Ave stands but maybe 25% smaller?

I loved that fact that Rita had stands behind the end zone at one point, but I know it affected the track. Would love for that to come back. MC has end zone stands, right?

BTW, please stay safe out there!

Thank you Witty, I appreciate it, its been a looooong summer and year.

Yes they do have a large endzone stands at MC. I think they plan to have them in the west endzone in the next year or 2 so they will have stands on all sides of the field.

I was told Reason why they were removed back in 03 was due to the fact they were fearful of someone flicking a lit cigarette on the newly installed field turf and that would nullify the warranty for the turf. Not sure if that was bogus or what, that was a rumor that I had heard.

The visitor stands were brought over from the old campus on 63 and Claremont. Redid the old wood planks with aluminum seating.
