WB QB is out, they are trying anything but SR D is overpowering them....but SR has missed 3 FGs which I don't think they have missed 3 FG the past 4 seasons combined probably.

Just caught that pathetic drive by Willowbrook- do they always line up in that ridiculous formation with 3 linemen?!?

Anyone know how WB scored? Rita had ball with 4 minutes to go and a 21 - 3 lead? In the end, it doesn't matter, but need to close these types of games out.

Their QB went out in the 2nd Q and looks like they were throwing crap at the wall and hoping something stuck as far as formations. I think that was their RB back there and was just doing Wildcat. It failed. Rita dominated the game they just couldn't close out drives.

You’ve been spot on in this thread. Great effort by the Mustangs. Really good play calling too. Just a lack of execution and, as you say, finishing. Dropped passes on correct play calls, missed FGs. Won ugly. Like Witmonk said, wake up call.

I implied in the pick em thread that this St. Rita team has been overlooked. And I stand by that when in 7A playmaker story earlier this week, Edgy does not mention Justin Buckner. Now I don’t have any stats to back this up (just watch his games) because it’s a sum of everything he does but he is in the top ten of impact players in the state. He is the best damn player in the state nobody has heard of. And the effort by JBuck, Kingsbury Herman, Katalinic overcame an otherwise tough night for the Mustangs.

It’s ridiculous. I’ve watched this sport for 50 years and not many have put me on the edge of my seat like JBuck

Maybe he plays too many positions on both sides of the ball and special teams that casual fans can’t keep up.

McCaravan,

Thanks for "typing" me off the bridge. LOL. You are the king of "calling it like it is" and your pinpoint objectivity is appreciated.

Willowbrook always plays tough, especially in the playoffs. I believe they almost knocked that Wheaton North championship team out in the quarterfinals in '21. Score was like 10 - 6 or something. In the end, that's why they play the games.

I believe it was the game against BR that he dominated with several huge hits, too. Great technique.

Willowbrook was relatively down this year compared to previous seasons. But still a tough out.
Not true. They lost to Glenbard East who was 2-7. They lost to DGS who just gave up almost 70 points to LT. They lost to Glenbard East who lost 35-7 at home and were blown out by West Aurora in their only tough regular season game. Willowbrook has been down for a few years but will make the playoffs most years because they have 5 guaranteed wins in their week conference.

Yes. Ty. Not everything that didn’t work was the Mustangs’ fault, the Warriors were not going away without a fight and did not make life easy for the Mustangs. That safety turned emergency QB KJ Rhodes I believe (correct me if I am wrong on the name Willowbrook fans) is an incredible player/athlete. Hats off to the Willowbrook Warriors talent and effort.

I am sorry you are bitter about Glenbard West not making the playoffs.

If he stays in the game maybe because of the missed opportunities it's a closer game but when he went out, and I think the backup went out too, they had to hit the panic button offensively. They did have some good plays on defense. Dropped a textbook over the middle INT that maybe with a decent return could have helped. But SR was the obvious better team and while it wasn't their prettiest W, it's not a beauty contest and the final score isn't factored into the next round, survive and advance. Also, I'm playing Bucker more on offense if I'm Rita....he should be on the field at all times so teams have to factor him in. Feed him once and then fake it the next time I guarantee you you will have at least 2 wide open options! (Take notes MC if your playing them in the semis, key on JBuck 😉)

They played MC in the 2019 Semifinals when they had Player of the Year Sam Tumilty at QB and they played MC tough, final of 23-6 didnt tell the whole story, MC stopped them on the 1 yard line on the opening drive and then 2 more times in the Red Zone. In 2018 they lost to a good Batavia team by a TD in the quarterfinals and they had a really good RB who was also a State Champion Wrestler whose name escapes me. They got a good program and coaches. Kinda of a long hike from the parking lot to the field though! But it's a cool setting for a field!
