I wonder how it will work with baseball. Is each returning SR going to get a full ride now, or will they only get their allocation for 2020?

It seems like a great opportunity to bump up baseball’s scholarship total permanently. Hopefully it’s a silver lining to this whole thing.

Lot of details not known. What will this do to roster sizes next year? What about scholarship limits?

The BIGGEST question is if it only applies to seniors? Or to all classifications? It’s just a 1 year backlog blip for seniors only. But it will be a scholarship and playing time mess for years if it’s everyone.

Uggh. Basketball is a winter sport, not a spring sport and the regular season is completely over?

Sure, the UK, Duke, Kansas, and other premier teams have 1 and dones that will leave anyway. But there will be teams that were average to mediocre this year that will be much more improved next year with another year for all classes, plus adding their incoming freshmen? Yes, it might help us, but it will help everybody behind us in the league too.

Would be much better to postpone the tourney until April, see how this plays out and then put every team with a winning record up to 128 teams in and you only add 1 more round. If it is less than 128, the NCAA could give byes to conference champs.

I don't think it makes any sense to only apply it to seniors. At the very least, you need it to apply to juniors and seniors or else you don't do any good for baseball players. I think they probably should give a RS to everybody. Counts the same as a medical RS for those who haven't redshirted yet although I think with the scholarship limitations in baseball it wouldn't really matter if it counted or not, as anybody needing two redshirt years is probably going to get processed anyway.

ETA: for basketball and other sports that have completed their regular season, I think it makes sense to extend an extra year of eligibility to seniors. Wouldn't complain if they just gave everybody a RS. Suspect that it would help a lot of the smaller schools more than the bluebloods and don't think it would do much for us except maybe get us another year of Ado.
