Thanks for the recap. I had a lot of optimism about KT throughout most of the year, but those last two games of the season honestly dampened a lot of it. It was hard to tell at times as to how much of the issue was the O line and how much was just him, but the entire offense just seemed completely out of sync more often than not during those two games.

My only real hope for this team is that Arnett's return is going to dramatically improve the defense because I don't feel like there's any real reason to believe that this offense should be much improved. Best case, it'll once again be middle of the pack in the SEC
Yup. He's not really a fit for Heavy's offense.

This is the one thing that tells you about the football IQ on this board.

Blake Shapen was a really good QB if we could have protected him. I like that we played Kamario late in the season, but the fans yelling all season at Shapen just don't understand enough about whats going on.
Board? It's was 80% of our stupidass fanbase.

Mostly people were just ready to give the freshman a shot.
Really? Your literal next sentence says this:

It was our only thing to be excited about at the end of the season. Shapen was fine but KT had way more upside.
How do you know he has more upside? All we know is that he's a better runner. That only takes you so far.

Shapen had his moments but the Florida game ending poisoned a lot of people against him.
No, it's just another case in a long line of MSU fans turning on QB in favor of the backup. Our fanbase is clueless about football.

I know he had more upside because Shapen was about to be out of eligibility. Might as well get Kamario more experience at that point. Shapen was as good as he was going to get. KT would improve as he got more in game reps.

Are you seriously saying that the end of the Florida game where Shapen's terrible decision cost us a shot to win the game didn't cost him the support of a lot of fans? How can you even argue that?

I'd rather try to get a win. And Shapen gave us the best chance of that.

I don't think Shapen improved our chances much if at all with that OL against Ole Miss. He was also terrible against Mizzou. 2 pick sixes the first was when we were down 10 in the 3rd quarter.

Leach was widely hated and Arnett was crowned as the brains behind the operation. That is evidence of severe intellectual deficiency.

That's actually a good point, I'll give you that, especially in this new playoff era. Once you miss the playoff, more and more teams will just tank and play for next year.

I'm sure it did. And it doesn't help that we have a bonehead coach. But Shapen's passing to-date has been about the only good part of the Lenny Error.

We were largely uncompetitive in that game, and Taylor looked like Omarr Conner playing in the Croom Coast. Hard to get much worse.

But yeah, overall, considering Lenny's dumb coaching, it was close enough that fans got to show their dumb side once again. Only QBs in my lifetime that didn't get booed were Sleepy (got hurt) and freaking Dak. This fanbase booed (multiple times) Nick 17-ing Fitzgerald.

I don't disagree with your overall point. Fans were way too critical of some good QBs and too supportive of mediocre backups. My point is that there was logic to playing KT. Shapen wasn't bad but KT also has potential. Its not like wanting to play Keton Thompson over Fitz.

Didn't Dak get booed? I know he got benched.

Shapen was horrible. Now it has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that not even an arena football team wanted him. He single handedly cost us 3 games and tried to give away the Arizona state game. He had a bad attitude, and destroyed team morale. Lebby stuck with him for waaaay too long knowing it would be the last games of his life as a football player. Baylor said getting rid of him was the greatest move they ever made.
we aren’t running some kinda of charity that sends you off into the sunset. We need to have balls.

That’s what the geniuses wanted. They crap talked a 65% passer and heaped praises on Mr 50% because he could run. So that’s what we are going to get. A running QB that will be a one read guy. The 3rd and 4th options may as well pack up their bags next season.
Everyone would prefer someone who can do both, but given the offensive line most people wanted someone who could avoid pressure considering there was so much of it on literally every single play. There were people who just wanted a change because they thought Shapen was awful, but that was not the majority. It was not fair to Shapen to leave him back there as a sitting duck.

Selmon should be fired immediately if he even takes a sniff in Arnett's direction for that interim spot. Tbro Arnett showed he was topped out at DC with that inconceivably stupid decision to scrap the Air Raid for 2023.
I really don’t think it’s that deep. We’re talking about a midseason interim hire at HC for an SEC school based on a firing of the previous HC due to being so horrible that we couldn’t even afford to wait till season’s end. It’s a white surrender flag, no matter who the interim guy is.

It would definitely be Arnett or Knox, and it wouldn’t really matter who it was because Lebby runs the whole show on offense. But based on the new calendar with the portal, we’d still have to make the move.

Might as well have him back. I believe our ceiling is 6 wins regardless of the coach in this new era of professional college football.
Yea man with all this parity and the inability for blue bloods to stack talent and teams everywhere that have never won before having good seasons, I just don’t see how we could ever win more than 6. I swear we have the dumbest fans anywhere. We should have won 8 last year.

Should we have to move on mid year Phillip Montgomery would be interim HC.

Because he’s goat. He can argue with a stop sign and still be wrong. I’m not sure if it’s trolling, a schtick, a character he’s playing, or just good ole fashioned mental illness but every once in a while he makes a decent point but it’s surrounded by non sense so no one usually notices.

What? Hell no. You smoking that dope

When was that even possible
I listened to bo bounds for the first time in a long time earlier this week or last week and he was saying that Dak was being booed and got benched for a game for Damien Wiilliams. Then Dak came in late in the game and led them back to a win.

Do we really need to practice to be this bad? I realize it’s a coordinated effort and requires some training but wouldn’t we be better served just to call it Spring Recess?

That’s was t the case. Dak was injured in 13 in the ATM game. He sat out three quarters of 13 egg. We pulled Williams and the legacy of Dak began

In this modern landscape there's just no way for us to compete. Us, Oregon St, Indiana, schools like that have no chance in football.

Enjoy being disappointed every year. We’re not Indiana with Mark Cuban’s money.
