So, think that Lincoln will be "open" for the spring game?

Will fans get to go in? Tailgating?

What is the deal with the Lincoln bars right now? Masks and limits on people inside?

Would be nice to see people come down and tailgate if nothing else in large numbers.

The city mandate is that you have to wear a mask if you cannot maintain 6 ft of social distancing from any non family member. Any mask rules are really put in place by the businesses themselves. Let's see who is hungry for business. If I owned a bar, I would put up a no Karens sign. Most of the geezers on this board have taken the jab, so they should feel plenty safe to be around other humans of unknown origin.

I don't know what O street and the Railyard have looked like as of late so I was not sure how the enforcement is going but man, you have to think it will be a nice day and lord knows people are looking for something to do. I would love to get down there with some friends and hit up a few old spots.

It’s odd that with all the backlash directed at the conference for its COVID precautions people forget it was a Univ of Neb led task force that made the health and safety recommendations that were adopted

Tailgating theoretically could be done pretty safely. Packing 70K or so people shoulder to shoulder into the stadium would be a different story. You couldn't pay me to go to an indoor bar. I don't enjoy overpaying for beer enough in the first place.

Start of May is a bit early to get everyone who wants it both doses of the vaccine plus the time to reach their peak immunity. My bet would be on allowing some fans, but a max of 50% capacity The question over the coming months is going to be how many people show up to get a shot.

Eventually you reach a point where you got a shot in the arm of most everyone who is willing and you'll have to figure out what to do about the rest.

People only wanna chest thump about how great UNMC is when they're not making recommendations that curtail their ability to get wasted with strangers.

1/3 of Americans don't want the shot. You will do exactly nothing about "the rest". And it's not a vaccine so try to be more accurate with your language. Non FDA approved experimental gene therapy. I know, it's a mouthful.

I don't think he really cares. I doubt very much he drinks beer, because that would compromise his health, and potentially the health of those around him, which he is clearly opposed to. These lockdowns have been a godsend; people get to stay inside and avoid those terrible dangers like driving, or taking a subway, going out to eat, or having social interaction with a person other than those stuck inside the 4 walls of their apartment.

Haha!

I think for him it is really about the beer price, which I totally get. I hate 8 dollar beers!

But, I know a lot of people that love the lockdown.

Precisely. A couple months from now, when there are hundreds of thousands more vaccines available than willing arms to put them in -- having things closed down, capacity limitations, mask wearing is going to fall by the wayside. Anyone not wanting a vaccine -- rightly so -- can make that choice. Might get sick, might not, but there are plenty of open beds if you do. Exactly nothing needs to be done. Life will go on. Each state will decide. Fauci has no actual authority over any of it.

It might not even take that long. Just got my first vaccine today in Ohio. It was out at the county fairgrounds. Was drive-thru. Probably 500 cars in line when I got there wrapped around the whole place. Line was moving quickly. Took 60 minutes to get to the front of the line, never even had to get out of the truck the whole time.

Zero idea how many thousands of jabs that one site gave today, but it was a lot. They had to close down the access to the highway when there was no more room there for cars to line up any more.

It will be lame AF if Barry's is only letting in like, 1/6th capacity.
Barry's has been closed since the start of the pandemic, got sold to new ownership, and apparently isn't reopening anytime soon. I think the rest of O street is more or less fully open at this point though.

The amount of urine that has flowed through Barry's toilets on Husker Saturdays would fill memorial stadium.
I used to love that place.

Not to mention all the times you have been rejected by girls at a bar.

Not sure if you were joking or maybe running a high fever but these are indeed vaccines and they are not gene therapies.

Anyone think Volleyball sells out on April 1&2? Our only home matches left.
Yes, if 2400 fans is considered a sell out. Thank the wonderful mayor for that one. It all revolves around the mighty Gaylord here in Lincoln.

I'm not sure where you found that bit of nonsense posted but that's EXTREMELY misleading. I'm sure that was the intent of the idiot that typed that "information". It's almost as deceptive and disgusting as the lie that the vaccine is grown in tissue cultures from aborted fetuses. I'm a Fauci critic Trump voting anti-abortion doctorate medical professional. The idea that the vaccines aren't vaccines and are "gene therapy" is ludicrous.

Absolutely wrong Dingle. According to a piece published March 2, 2021 by Dr. James Lawler, Infectious Disease MD at UNMC, the J and J vaccine is made by growing viruses in cells that originated from aborted fetuses. Called "fetal cell lines," they directly descend from aborted tissue. Pfizer and Moderna tested their vaccines using the same fetal cell lines. So, in fact, the vaccine WAS grown in tissues that originated from an abortion. That the abortion itself occurred years ago does not change the direct line from point A (for abortion) to Point V.
The article is easily found on the UNMC website

Fetal cells from the 70s and 80s that have been synthetically replicated in laboratories for 40-50 years. Should they destroy all of that lab grown tissue now? If you're that morally pure that you're willing to destroy lab grown tissue because of what somebody did 50 years ago I guess you're morally superior to me. It is extremely deceptive to say that the vaccine is using tissue from aborted babies. People aren't going around to Planned Parenthood picking up aborted fetuses to make vaccine.
