There were some small discrete gatherings in the parking lot after the lacrosse game. Nobody was busting chops while I was there.

This is a much higher profile event. Hollowhead and his minions will be the rule of law.
Tailgating after any event is a not a concern.... the security force will have left .

Opens tomorrow.

And @jtung230, no joke the big ones are something.
The first of the newer style was the one up in Floral Park. Done several years ago. One of the key owner groups was over in Italy on one of his trips and came up with the model from there. It had a beautiful produce and wine selection and even a sit down Raw Bar inside. Not the traditional up/down aisles.

There's another over near or in Morrisville, Pa. like it too. However as nice as they are, I'm more of that traditional aisle shopper and don't like all the service areas, etc. Give me a great deli, butcher, baker....and just let me find stuff with ease.

Inspired by shopping at Shoprite? Wow. You should do ads for them.

something on sale or A meat or a fish I haven't cooked in awhile that catches my eye.

This week alone I made Shrimp (on sale) spring rolls, pan roasted salmon (on sale) and flat iron steak (love it and they don't always have it so when I saw it I had to buy it) tacos with home made guacamole (avocados were ripe and ready to be used when bought)

curious.. is that Wall/Belmar shoprite brand new building or a refurb on the old one? I wonder if that place does 80% of its revenue in the summer.
Brand new building. The site was the site of Foodtown and Dunkin Donuts. The old Shop Rite diagonally across the highway is rumored to become a Dearborn Farms or something like that. Was hoping that old Shop Rite would be torn down, as it is an old building with a bowstring truss roof, which is a horrible design.

Dunkin Donuts moved south down 35 next to Five Guys. That old Dunkin Donuts was a regular stopping point coming home from the bars and at a great spot near the intersection of Route 138. The new one, not so much.

I think you are underestimating the number of full time residents who do food shopping. The other large Shop Rite on Route 34 is mobbed. The old Shop Rite on Route 35 did a brisk business and will do more in the new location.

Mrs Screw, you aren’t fooling anybody. We all know the real reason you are at Shop Rite. It gives you quick, easy access to put a thousand Rutgers magnets on cars all at once. And to happen to knock off a few State Penn Magnets and then drive over them. By mistake, of course.

The new one. The old one across the street is keeping the separate liquor store open.

One rumor is the old one will be a Trader Joe’s.

And @Knight Shift is right, the new place will do great...year round.

Not sure what happened with Shop-Rite. They used to be one of our major sponsors, like PSEG, Blue Cross, SHI, etc. Don’t see their logo anymore on the website. On the other hand, it looks like we added Geico.

might be underestimating the year-round traffic.. but you have to admit there is a lot of entertaining to do in the summers over there.

I recall some food store down that way that called itself "store of the century" on the building.. cannot quite recall where it was. And, of course, that was the previous century...

A&P? Now a Stop and Shop. Acme in Manasquan closed as landlord did not renew lease. Given the crowded Shop Rite on Route 34 and the fact that Foodtown in that same location as Shop Rite did OK despite being dilapidated and outdated with the old Shop Rite across the street, the new Shop Rite should draw well.
