The baseball attendance announcement says no tailgating so one would assume it’s the same for this.

If we gather at or near the hood of the car, no problem.

tailgate party

Definition of tailgate party

: a social gathering in which food and drinks are served at or near the back end of a parked vehicle (such as a pickup truck) that usually occurs in a parking lot before or after a public event (such as a football game or concert)

At this point I’m thinking that Grills, Coolers and tent setups in the lots before the game are not in keeping with Holloway’s wishes.

According to the release from Rutgers, it will be shown on BTN.
That’s good . Although much better to be at the game. Rutgers chooses to use the broadcast as a commercial and that’s fine . But I much rather see about the position battles and such. Announcers don’t talk to this here

I am in the first group for tickets but would rather watch it on BTN in the confines of my place.

Rutgers is creating a smokescreen here. They are portraying themselves as being the good guy by offering up a Spring Game for people to attend but they are doing as many things as possible to keep the attendance numbers at a minimum and/or dissuading fans from attending. Will there even be 5k in the seats?
Doing pretty much the same for baseball.

Not only do you have to get your car registered to park in the lot you also have to complete a contact tracing form to enter. Then they set no attendance limit and it will be done by clicker at the gate on a 1st come, 1st serve basis. No one knows what the clicker cut off is, they haven't revealed it. Seems like they're doing everything they can to discourage fans from even showing up. And we're on the bubble right now to make the NCAA's

I’m in the first group and no one in my group can make it. Thursday night is tough. Especially now that people are going back to the office.

Has NJ provided new, updated guidance on what needs to be done in offices? At the beginning of the pandemic, the list was quite extensive. Last check, several weeks ago, they had not changed guidance and we continue to work from home.

But with students invited from day one (no issues!) And families part of the 5k too I would bet they dont even make It to Thursday. You can't get a single and I would bet folks will order higher numbers ...
The tix exchange forum gonna be busy that week!

Are they requiring voter registration before entering the lot? Sounds like it.

Think students are done before that? Not sure how many will stick around. I hope everyone wants to go can go.

Sorry, I work in NYC. Don’t know about NJ. In NYC, it’s still up to your employer. The restrictions are gone.

“We are following the health and safety advice of the university’s health and operations experts to provide campus guidance for events at Rutgers,”

What a crock of sh*t. I'm sure their experts told them no live graduation while most other schools large and small have graduations. So now they're either making up their own science and health, or lying about the real reason why they're limiting attendance. Only at Rutgers.

I found a picture of one of the "health and operations experts" providing advice to Rutgers:

the real reason for 5k football attendance is because he made the decision in February to cancel end of May graduation...which is 2 days before the spring game. He can't have the NJ limit in the stadium for football and not allow graduation. His premature decision on graduation screwed everything.
also, he says it's "not feasible" to make it happen

So they then lie to the media portraying restricted attendance based on their science and health expertise which is in stark contrast to NJ Guidelines. Rutgers Administration doubles down on their buffoonery.

the press release on the baseball attendance was embarrassing, as somebody noted. it basically said "we made up an arbitrary number for attendance but we are not telling you what it is. oh yeah we recommend you wear a mask also even though you are outside and we limited attendance to 4% and there won't be a soul within 45 fukking feet of you."
i was going to take my son to sat game (11 am) but how early do i have to get there? what's the limit? 50? 250?

quick update on the baseball games this weekend, as i emailed Hobbs office since i wanted to go with couple of kids, but didn't want to drive them and be turned away if capacity was extremely limited. so i asked them what exactly is the number, since they are following their own rules judging by the football game.

Good afternoon

Here is the link for access to the games. Please fill out the form.

We are following the executive orders for the facility with social distancing and half capacity so we are at 500 for the bleachers as well as outfield grass areas.

Please check our website and social media as times could adjust with the impending weather coming

Thanks

Matt

We're about to be highlighted on Channel 2 news (CBS) pointing out a football game with fans and a virtual graduation. Sweet 🥴

Reason number 941 the NINE million people of New Jersey should have our own TV stations, instead of being flooded with out of state stations .

There's no comparison between 5,000 fans socially distanced in a 52,000 seat stadium vs thousands of students, family and friends all mingling together at a graduation ceremony.

What part of that don't people understand?

I'm not saying there shouldn't be a graduation ceremony. But suggesting the two events are equivalent is absurd.

And Rutgers could have had separate graduations over multiple days like other schools are doing to lessen the number of attendees. But Holloway was short sited and prematurely cancelled everything despite knowing people were getting vaccinated at a rapid rate and outdoor transmission of Covid is so low it's almost immeasurable

What part of that don't you understand?

Story is good clickbait for nj.com. Faux outrage stories get the public’s attention.

Is walking at graduation still a popular tradition? Kind of old school imo.

Kind of agree. There is no comparison to a football game and a graduation. Football game- people buy tickets and want to be there. Graduation? Maybe 50% of the people want to be there. Mine for the SOE (then COE) was barely memorable except it being very hot and remembering that I could not wait for it to be over. That said, to some grads and families it is an important ceremony and they should not be denied.

While it seems none of news outlets have probed the real reasons for no graduation, it is likely faculty and staff probably pushed back hard and would not cooperate with gong to a graduation ceremony. Similar to the nonsense we see with some of the teachers' unions fighting going back to in person learning in schools and their agenda driving the "science" behind the decision to keep kids learning from home. Why are some schools in the tri-state area fully open while others are still closed? Science!!

Bingo. Anyone comparing the two events are delusional.
50,000 people (graduates, family, and friends) at Rutgers Stadium for a ceremony is not the same as 5,000 at a football game. Even with 10,000 at a Football Game is social distancing at it’s finest. 20%
