Sure the kid has great genes, but leave it to Ole Miss to be banking on a kid who doesn't even have his learner's permit yet to be their savior. The funny thing is that they've actually had good QB play the last few years and have still sucked. Future QB's should be the least of their concerns right now.

I think its safe to say the kid is going to be a stud. But as long as David Cutcliffe is around and coaching, him going to OM won’t be a sure thing. They hired Cutcliffe more or less to secure Eli, because even he wasn’t a done deal before that. Then you see that he just put a Top 10 pick in the NFL who is already blowing up as a rookie, its going to be a compelling case.

Remember when we thought Dylan Favre would be every bit as good as his Uncle Brett?
Yeah... sometimes it doesn't work out the way you thought it would.

Haha, what? Nobody thought that. And Arch as a 9th grader is already bigger than Dylan was as a senior. And is playing much tougher competition to boot.

So was Archie's NFL career a product of the early Saints franchise or was the early Saints franchise a product of Archie's NFL career?

What's really funny is they aren't thinking about Arch being an above-average QB and being a "savior". They are wanting him simply for the notoriety it will bring. To them, attention equals success.

One of Ole Miss’s biggest shortcomings (and they are legion) is a lack of patience.

They’ve had several good coaches in there that they’ve run off at the first sign of trouble and look where it’s gotten them.

Whoever they hire next year will be their 8th head coach since 1994, with each lasting an average of 3 years. How the hell are you supposed to build anything like that?

Is there another school anywhere that would base the hire of their next chancellor, AD and head football coach on a pimple faced, 15 year old that at this point is more interested in counting his pubic hairs and playing w/ his little pee pee than playing football in Oxford?

Ha, yep. Guess so and now they want to do it again.

Honestly giving Luke a couple more seasons wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for them. He’s not a great coach but neither will be the next guy they hire. He’s at least a hard worker and recruits pretty well. Give him and those good assistants a couple of seasons and they might figure it out.

Look at the SEC coaches that have been hired in the last few seasons:

Chad Morris - bad hire
Matt Luke - bad hire
Derek Mason - meh
Barry Odom - pretty good I guess
Jeremy Pruitt - bad hire
Will Muschamp- bad hire
Ed Orgeron - actually really good hire
Dan Mullen - pretty good hire
Jimbo Fisher - bad hire, IMHO
Kirby Smart - Great hire
Joe Moorhead - jury still out but by these comparisons a pretty good hire.

The others are Malzahn (meh) Stoops and Saban who have been good to great for their respective schools. Stoops in particular has been given time to build something and they’re WAY better than he found them.

So 7 of these 11 new guys are either average or bad. You can’t just throw the SEC logo out there anymore and expect to get a great coach.

Chances are Ole Miss will hire another bust who will be gone in 3 years.

Yep! Cutcliffe was not your normal coach that The Network usually wants. Cutcliffe wanted to do recruiting the right way, and didn't agree with the Network way, but The Network did not want to take a chance on losing another Manning. So they hired Cutcliffe. If they hadn't they probably would have lost Eli. Then they moved on to Coach O and he helped to sophisticate and modernize The Network method of recruiting,
