At below cost of service …. That’s not the formula for an ongoing business.

i would imagine that if a merger with JetBlue would have occurred, many of the routes would have been eliminated as they were duplicative. They likely just wanted the Spirit gates. The extra employees were going to be laid off and plane leases voided— same end result. JetBlue was never going to keep all of Spirit.
Only thing youve said that has been 100% correct. Gates, specifically at ATL, was the reason Southwest was so aggressive in their purchase of AirTran years ago.

Senator Elizabeth Warren, the architect of the Spirit Airlines dissolution, sold 20,000 shares of the airline at a huge profit just two weeks ago.
She bought the shares after she killed the merger deal with JetBlue two years ago for pennies on the dollar and watched them grow to be worth millions.
Two weeks later, the airline went under and ceased operations.
It's almost like she knew...

AG Merrick Garland, March 7, 2023: "Our complaint alleges that JetBlue’s proposed $3.8 billion acquisition of Spirit violate Section 7 of the Clayton Act. We allege that if allowed to proceed this merger will limit choices and drive up ticket prices for passengers across the country.

"And we further allege that the impact of this merger will be particularly harmful for travelers who rely on what are known as ultra low cost carriers in order to fly. Those include working & middle-class Americans who traveled for personal as opposed to business reasons & who must pay their own way. By acquiring Spirit JetBlue will eliminate the largest ultra low cost carrier in the United States.”

Holding Spirit Airlines stock would be a monumentally stupid thing for her to do and I see the tweet is gone now but it said Satire in the bottom right corner. Why do you insist on bombing the board with so much trash?

When we lived in Western NY, we would take the Spirit flight from Niagara Falls to Myrtle Beach multiple times to see our family, or for my parents to come up. It was awesome, we only had fantastic experiences. So I'm guessing we just got lucky or something.
