NU had built a 16 point lead , in part to some spirited play by Page, but Page was pulled and Michigan went wild, 15/16 with many inside baskets.
I still question why our centers play tight on centers like Mara. Leave him alone up top, clog the middle and help reduce the layups that occur when our guards get beat off the dribble.
I don't think that it's "playing tight" on the center. I think it's because in Coach Lowery's defensive scheme the center has to hedge and recover against the pick and roll. From my vantage point -- admittedly high in Section 218 -- our guards are too passive when reaching opposing picks at the top. They simply stop, instead of fighting over or under those screens (depending upon the ability of the player with the ball to hit a three), which creates the brutal mismatches with Reid, West or Clayton that we've seen all season down low... A guy like Audige, a strong defender, wouldn't allow guys to simply run him into a screen creating a switch/mismatch. It's clearly been a large learning curve defensively for this young/new team.

I agree that our pick and roll defense has been horrendous but my point is that Mara and the majority of the centers , we have played, have no outside game , so rely on the guards to fight though the picks and allow Page to cheat , allowing him to defend a drive or have better rebounding position on a missed shot.. Page should have been our best player instead of a part time player. I do believe that this was a coaching shortcoming

I think it's sweet that you think that people really have to "qualify" for them.
Well, I am a physician, so I always start from the assumption that medications are being prescribed according to proper guidelines...knowing full well that isn't always the case. :)

Duly noted. If I ever need an ethical doctor, I’ll know where to find one :)
