I don't think they will get more than 28. Question is whether we can put up 30 on their D. And since it is going to be pretty darned c-cold and we're at home, I'll say Huskers 21, MSU 17.
The problem is, our D is incapable of keeping them under 30 + or even 40 +.
The over / under is 49.
With us giving up more than 40, you should get on that.
Mic drop. This is game #11. Using game #1 as a barometer for Michigan State or Nebraska is useless at this point.
In Big Ten games only, The Huskers are 2nd in scoring and 2nd in total offense behind Ohio State. However, unlike Ohio State, Nebraska has the most balanced offense in the league. Michigan is pretty balanced, But they don't and can't execute QB run game like Nebraska.
Sparty has a terrific defense, but they haven't faced an offense like the Huskers.
Purdue is an explosive spread team without QB run game. They have a talented running back, but its really just a zone scheme used to keep teams honest. You can defend their run game with 11 on 10.
Ohio State is similar because they are committed to keeping Haskins in the pocket.
Indiana can't run the ball at all outside of Peyton Ramsey scrambling. Their offense has taken a step back since Kevin Wilson was canned.
Penn State ran the ball well on Michigan State because they force you to defend all 11 guys since McSorely can run. However' the Lions offense has been average this year. They're averaging less than 400 yards per game in Big Ten play. Their passing game hasn't really taken off like it's been the last few seasons.
Maryland runs the ball well, but had very little success vs. Sparty because Maryland has the worst passing game in the Big Ten. Hell, its more one dimensional than Illinois.
Michigan had success vs Sparty because Michigan is really good, but they also are balanced and forced Michigan State to not key on one particular aspect of their offense.
Northwestern beat MSU by 10 points and was aided by some big pass plays and turnovers. But they can't run the ball at all anyway.
Michigan State's defense thrives vs. one dimensional football teams. And if an opponent doesn't have a QB who can run and throw' they will eat the guy alive.
Nebraska will definitely have the most game ready opposing offense MSU faces this season. The Huskers can run and throw on any down and distance. They also have high level Big Ten Talent at QB, RB, and WR. Along with a Healthy and experienced offensive line.
Michigan State's offensive woes are driven by injuries to key players. Lewerke can't really throw the football right now due to a shoulder injury. Their offensive line is in shambles. RB LJ Scott was forced to take a redshirt year. Their receiving corp was supposed to be the tops in the Big Ten. However, it's been plagued by injuries and the QB issues have made that aspect marginal.
Nebraska will not have to worry about QB run game. Sparty will run a lot of power football and attempt to shorten the game.
If the Huskers can get out to an early lead, MSU will be in Big trouble.
Now from a special teams standpoint, the Spartans will be much better than Nebraska. Their kickoff return team is excellent. The Huskers can't afford to give them good field position. Secondly, their kicker is excellent. If this game comes down to a late kick for either team, Nebraska will not win. Hell I'm not sure Pickering could be counted on for a game winning kick, even inside 30 yards.

Yeah I think any FBS program in the country could probably put 30 on us. People saying that we have a shot to win because MSU offense is horrible, must not be watching our D. Any issues MSU has on offense is null and void when playing our D. They could easily put up 30 on us.Offense score over 38 on their D? They may score in the 30s on our D.
Someone needs to be reminded that this is November not August.
Pfft...next you'll try claiming the transitive property doesn't work either! Purdue beat Nebraska but lost to Minnesota, so clearly Nebraska didn't actually beat Minnesota.Someone needs to be reminded that this is November not August.
You don't even realize what I was I talking about? About the prevailing odds in August for Nebraska total wins this year was 6. I took that bet in late August. Yeah remind me it's not August right now, what a joke dumb ***
The problem is, our D is incapable of keeping them under 30 + or even 40 +.
