So are you all suggesting what Carolina has done most of its history which is to jump on the coaching carousel? I think we can't make informed decisions with all of the injuries. I think we may need to tweak some things on the staff and be aggressive in the portal, but I'm on board with Beamer.

Sam Pittman seems to be in trouble at Arkansas. There's chatter about Kansas' Lance Leopold and Colorado's Deon Sanders to the Hogs.

I never understood the Pittman hire. He had never been a Head Coach at the FBS level before going to the Hogs. What he had was 2 years experience as a Head Coach at a junior college and barely won over 50% of his games. I bet they won't make that same mistake again. They will hire someone who has had success at the FBS level as a Head Coach.

By the way, App. State was not a FBS program when we hired Sparky. Every Head Coach who has had any success at Carolina since Paul Dietzel had previous Head Coaching success at the FBS level. That's a FACT. Look it up. All the others: Bell, Woods, Scott and Muschamp were unmitigated failures here.

Sparky didn't have to worry about a "portal".

Beamer deserves a fourth year, but he better be noticably improved by this time next year.

I remember as a youth Sparky coming to my highschools football game scouting Matthew Campbell. North Augusta was playing my hometown football team and we had a sophomore running back Anthony Hunter who was a beast. I kept nudging him on the shoulder telling him he should be recruiting him. He would smile and nod his head and say yea "he's a fine player." I'm sure I got on his nerves, but he was as nice as he could be. It was a thrill to be able to get up that close and have some interaction with My beloved Gamecocks head coach. Hate it didn't work out for him here but always appreciated his kindness to me that Friday night.

I think injuries and toughness of schedule is the excuse losers use.

It’s possible that we have a very Sparky Wood’ish season with the current record. It’s giving me flashbacks of the Sparky and also Brad Scott era.

But personally, I’m not yet checked out on Beamer. I do like him and really wanting it to work. I think the the heat to win is on and he is starting to feel it as a HC. But If it’s like this next season, then………

What happens if Beamer goes 7-5 next season and loses a bowl game to go 7-6? Does he get a fifth year or do we move on and hope he can improve? 7-5 is improvement in the record but let's be honest, 3 of those wins will (or should be) over cupcakes and 1 will be over Vandy. That means 3 wins over actual legitimate opponents and those wins will be hard to come by with next year's schedule.

Wandering in the wilderness for years looks to be a real possibility.
