Redraider73, yes I did say something about a 12-1 team having to travel to an 8-4 team. Not whining at all about. Just something not right about that. I'm sure you guys would feel the same way if the shoe was on the other foot.
It'll be just that much sweeter beating y'all in precious "Lineberger" stadium . Tell them boys to pack a lunch because the Bears are coming to DO WORK.

We turned the ball over 4 times and only allowed 13 points off turnovers. We could have shut them out without the turnovers. Our defense is better then it was in 2006, but our offense is not nearly as powerful as then. As for Shelby, is this team better then their 2006 team? That team was the best team I've ever seen.

You are going to find out in a hurry Friday, South Point is NOT Tuscola. Nor Patton, nor Jesse Whatever , You might not be be any worse off if GA Tech was lined up across the ball from you. But, at least you still are playing for another week. That's something.

BB95, I was just messing around with the Pisgah folks about South Point. This is not one of the better South Point teams imo offensively but they are better on defense. SP tackles real well especially in the secondary. Pisgah's QB was handful in 06 and made that offense click. Pisgah was also stout on both sides of the line. This 2016 Shelby team is better defensively imo. The offense is hard to compare since we went from wing-t to spread. I will say that as a hole that 06 team had more talent offensively except for the receiver position.

Then this game could turn into a defensive battle. Whichever team's defense can break the other's offense first and score.

i think these are 2 very good teams. sp has to be the favorite in my opinion, but dont count the bears out just yet.im expecting them to stand up n fight hard. dont be surprised if pisgah keeps it close and has a chance to win it at the end.

Youre welcome, and would be well advised to remember that. It would be be good if you Try and think of this South Point team in comparison to the Hickory team of 96 that PHS played instead of Tuscola.

This is not one of SP's most talented teams. The coaching staff has done a great job of getting the most out of what we have. The players have worked hard and it is paying off. As far as the game. I believe this will be a tight game. Pisgah has a good passing game. Something we haven't seen since Shelby.

Was that lackluster performance against Patton indicative of poor math or too many turnovers? I guess Cherokee is your Vegas. Vegas is the big one in Nevada.

Too many turnovers, and two were in the red zone. Patton never really stopped us. We should have scored 35 or more, and they probably should have scored no more thane once. Shoulda, coulda doesnt mean squat though. We need to avoid those turnovers this week.

This isn't south points first rodeo. South point will be pisgahs biggest test, pisgah will not be south points biggest test. Unfortunately I have seen a couple Asheville teams get blown off the field against south point over the years. They are just very hard to game plan against and very well coached. Unless south point turns the ball over a lot, I just can't see this particular pisgah team winning in Belmont. In their last 7 games, south point has won by 30 or more points. Asheville high was trash this year and we lost by 3 at pisgah. Pisgah can win but they need south points C game

Last one for Pisgah was 1976? Not sure if you have been to the big dance since that? We have won 4 state titles since you won your last??? Last year would have been our 5th but the facemask call in the last minutes of the game kept that from happening.

Actually, 40 years ago. Our community and kids know that tradition and have those expectations every year. For a community our size, no one does more for their kids. As for now, we have heard all year that we will lose this game or that game, or we should have won by more. We just win. That's the name of the game.

Our last regional final was in 2006, when we lost to Shelby in 2A. We moved to 3A in the last reorganization, and will be moving back to 2A next year. We are well aware of South Point's excellence in football.

In 96 I remember a Pisgah team that was a 21 point underdog against Kings Mtn. Pisgah won won 35-21. That's all we read in every news paper, how Pisgah has no chance to beat K.M.
Keep believing Pisgah has no chance.

I wish Burns was lucky enough to play Carson, or Patton....a 12-1 mountain record = an 8-4 record anywhere else. SP is a different animal than most teams, I do hate their big mouths 9 out of 10 weeks (crest week being the only tolerable week) They have had the most ideal road for the playoffs, ALL MOUNTAIN TEAMS, Corndog better buy a lottery ticket being this fortunate!
Im not counting out WR, but Id like to see a Hibriten/SP game, may be the fastest game in history.

The sad part of Burns losing is that they now will infiltrate our site to whine because their 4th place finish got them an unfair draw in the playoffs. Yes and we hate your whining but Devine did good this year and will continue to succeed at Burns. Congrats on a good season.......WHINER!!!

SP wasn't perfect either. We threw a interception that set up Tuscola's only score. We also fumbled the ball over to Tuscola inside their 5 yard line on first and goal. This game could have been 60-0 but it wasn't because no team plays perfect games.

lol wish we could go 8-4 and get a 1 seed to play all mountain teams. Life if good in Smellmont..went from having a mutiny against the coaching staff, back to they are the greatest coaches in the world. Im mostly thankful this holiday season that you guys righted the ship as well, I saw Coonie standing over a bridge with a boulder tied to him wearing a Stuart Cramer jersey.Crisis averted

Rev, you are a smart football guy and know that the schedule quality makes SP's record better than many teams who elected to play much weaker opponents (such as the Carolina Wildcats) instead of Crest, Lincolnton, Shelby, and Clover. Of our 4 losses, the only team not still playing is 5A Clover who was the best looking team that we played this year outside of Shelby. Good luck to Burns next year. Great strides made in 2016.

According to superraiders.com you all have 3 state championships. 79, 03, and 09, and one WNC co championship in 71. That's not four since 76. Still impressive, but listening to most of the fans on here, you would think you have a Shelbylike dynasty.

After watching in shock to what SP did to us and what they just did Friday night I don't see anybody slowing them down. The D is fast and VERY good right now. But hey I'm only a Jaguar fan so I don't know much, but I do know it was crickets on the visitors side Friday night and I'm expecting the same thing this week.
