Better late than never.

Early on the East looked like it would come down to Plainfield East and Romeoville, but Joliet West appears to have wrassled the top spot away. East and Romeoville are likely going to have their own playoff to see who makes the playoffs in week 8.

The West appear to have been won by Yorkville this past Friday, but there still will be jockeying for position between Oswego, Oswego E, and Brook (who should be in the East).

On another note I've heard a couple times recently that this is the last year for the SouthWest Valley, but no one knows what the two leagues are doing for next year. The West Suburban seems like they built a wall (not sure who paid for it) and isn't letting anyone in or out. Any clue as to what's going on 🤔

Fourteen regular season games into the Southwest Valley conference experiment, the 3 Valley schools are 0-6 vs any of the 3 LincolnWay schools, Dekalb is 0-2, Naperville North is 2-1 and Naperville Central 1-2, making for 3-11 overall. Maybe some buyer's remorse going on behind the rumbles of this new conference's quick demise. These numbers during the 2nd half of this season are not likely to go anywhere but downhill either.

Are they just gonna do the DVC thing again?

It sounds like the DVC thing back. If you look on the IHSA Open Dates, it says that Neuqua, Naperville Central, Waubonsie, and Naperville North are all looking for Week 3 and Week 9 opponents in 2026. That means the conference is back to normal but it seems like they aren't playing each other twice.

Looks like the 6 team DVC is back, with no team playing each other twice for 2026.

Why week 9 though 🤔 its probably the hardest to get a game.

Not sure honestly. But traditionally, week 9 would basically be a rematch with a conference opponent that each team already played earlier in the season, so my best guess is that coaches and ADs likely wanted to avoid that.

But again, I guess a decision is a decision.

Metea Valley already has a week 9 game

Yikes.

Maybe these crossovers need to stop. Perhaps an agreement can be reached with other conferences for non-con games like the CSL and MSL do because no one benefits from these.

East can find some matchups against the Southland, South Suburban, WSC Gold, and U8. West can seek out the DVC, SWSC, WSC Silver.

That said, these last 3 weeks should be interesting.

Yorkville @ Oswego E - they have 1 mutual opponent in Joliet W, which Yorkville beat 27-13 compared to OE's 41-0 victory. Obviously Yorkville boasts a big W over Oswego.

Brook @ PN - PN was low scoring early in the season, but appear to have settled in the last 3 weeks averaging 37 per game and allowing only 10. I got a chance to see the Tigers last night against the Bengals who are also Tigers. They sport two undersized but really strong runners and an overpowering D. Not to mention a real home field advantage and unique experience. Brook beat Joliet Central.

Oswego @ Minooka - the rivalry continues. Oswego seems to have rebounded after their hiccup to Yorkville. Despite that loss Panthers are only giving up 9.5 per game. Minooka along with Batavia has given consensus top 10 St Chuck North their closest game of the season, falling by 1. After losing their QB for the season The Nook seems to have gotten its offense in order scoring 74 last night. You can throw the records out when these two play, but with a combined 9-3 w/l there's no need to.

Now for the East

Joliet C @ Romeoville - Romeoville looks to stop their 3 game skid and set up a playoff with Plainfield E in week 8, winner gets in. Steelmen want to bounce back and have a more competitive game this week. They can also play spoiler with an upset and keep the Spartans out of the post season.

Plainfield C @ Plainfield S - technically Central's playoff hopes are still alive, but slim as they will be underdogs in their remaining 3 games so a win here would he huge. South on the other hand is attempting to salvage the season and could win conference with a 3 game win streak and some help if someone defeats Joliet West which would earn them the conference playoff bid.

Plainfield E @ Joliet W - Tigers look to continue their march through conference foes in this 2nd consecutive Tigers v Bengals matchup for East. I haven't seen JW this year but they appear to be the clear favorites to continue winning. I did get to see East this weekend and they do some things well, they'll need to continue doing those things, stay healthy, and cut down mistakes to have a chance. Otherwise the week 8 Romeoville playoff looms big.

I want to edit to say I just watched Plainfield S v Yorkville and South was very competitive with the Foxes. That goalline stand at the end of the 3rd was everything for Yorkville.

DVC and Southwest Valley merged because both conferences had scheduling issues. But with all the DVC schools getting punched in the mouths, I am not surprised that this merger is ending after just two years.

My question is, why did the ADs and district administrators in the DVC schools even agree to this? Maybe they didn't realize that none of their schools would stand a chance.

I can tell you that no one from the SW Suburban side saw the drop from the DVC schools.....and many of those same coaches and ADs felt that overall it was working and that they played some competitive games against each other.....DVC will do the playing each other twice deal for now is the last I've heard.

So if the DVC is set to play each other twice when it comes to whatever arrangement they have for week 9, why did Neuqua, Waubonsie, Naperville North and Naperville Central just post on the IHSA Open Dates saying that they are looking for a week 9 game?

Seems very odd to me that they'd be playing each other twice but four of the six schools in the conference are suddenly looking for a week 9 contest in 2026.

SW Suburban side didn't see the drop in competition from DVC Schools and saw it was working? They are probably just saying that to avoid scheduling issues in the future etc. Might be worth asking why a majority of the games were total blowouts then.

Ill make another thread for all this DVC and SWSC talk. I brought it up since The SWP is the other local conference and might affect us.

Its been 1.5 years. This is the best LWW has been ever and the best LWC has been in almost 30 years.

Last year NN beat: LWC, LWW, Lockport, HF, and Sandburg

Last year NC beat: Andrew, Stagg, LWW, Lockport, and Sandburg

Last year WV was competitive with LWC, Bradley and Lockport in addition to beating Stagg

Last year DeKalb has some close and some not so close, and beat Stagg for their only win

Yeah Nequa and Matea had it rough, but they lost non-con games too.

I originally put this in the wrong thread 🤦🏾‍♂️

And in the West...

Front runner has to be Yorkville with remaining games against PN and Brook. PN still has an outside chance at the post season if they can win out and get to 4-5. Their playoff points are high. And Brook already lost to Oswego by a ton, who Yorkville handled.

Second has to be Minooka... with games against Brook and Oswego E remaining. They've gotten through the hard part of the schedule: Oswego, PN, and Yorkville. They should be able to play bully ball against the Raiders and Wolves.

Next has to be Oswego E with remaining games against Minooka and Oswego, the two preseason favorites who have shown flashes of brilliance. Its tough sledding but the Wolves have shown they can play.

Finally the Brook with remaining games against Minooka and Yorkville, the two teams that slayed the giant that slayed David (Brook). Looks to be a long shot, but Brook is playing with house money after preseason predictions had them at 2-7.

And I would not be surprised if Oswego or PN were to win their remaining games.

No clue how this ends up. It would be interesting to see all 6 schools in the post season after all the scrutiny the conference gets.

And so the East is still clear as mud with a 3 way tie (PE, JW, & PS) and none of the 3 playing each other, along with Romeoville able to play their way into the playoff field with a win over Plainfield S.

Should Romeoville beat PS, and PE & JW win as expected then PE is the champs and Spartans play in week 10 and a 4 win birth is eliminated.

Should South beat Romeoville and PE & JW win as expected then I dont know who gets in other than PE.

Should PE happen to lose and JW & PS win then JW is in and a 4 win at large bid is eliminated.

Meanwhile over on the West side its come down to the week 9 matchup between The Ville (of York) and Bolingbrook. The preseason SWP West poll had these two the 2nd and 3rd least expected to win conference, securing 2 and 4 votes respectively (OE was lasted expected with 1 vote). No tie breakers needed, winner is the champ.
