Fewer than expected migrants arrived at the border after Title 42 expired
congress controls the border money. the congress has been controlled by the gop for five months. They proposed new border legislation one day before title 42 expired. I'll let you do the math.
If the budget was already approved as part of one of the other bills passed, then this doesn't have to go to congress. Has to be new spending but I don't disagree on the GOP statement.

I thought the same thing, but I learned that illegal immigrants can’t just apply for benefits. There are loopholes they have to jump through before even being considered. Before that, they have to navigate through the immigration system. Which is a huge pain in the ***.
California is working on a bill to allow ALL illegal immigrants to get government benefits .
Why does what California does bother you? Do you live in California? If yes, I can see why you'd be upset, but if not who cares?
The government (federal & state ) should just add a 10% immigrant tax on all people making over 100k per year. All property taxes should be raised 10% to help provide schools and more teachers.

I will say a lot of them probably pay taxes into the system. Granted it isn’t right, but there are ways to acquire SSN’s.
Not sure how hundreds of thousands that just crossed are paying taxes. Some estimates are at 2.1 million in 2022. Most don't even have a home. Living in tents, motels, make shift temporary housing. Cities, States , and federal government needs to implement a immigrat tax for all people making over 100k. Not sure if it did or didn't happen the government should have provided covid vaccines as they crossed.. approximately 150k per month in 18 consecutive months have crossed.
I’m referring to the millions that are already here right now. A lot of them are paying state and federal taxes. I’m not saying it’s right, but they are just getting some of their money back.
Also, some of those millions that you are referring to are protected people that President Trump called to come into the US. The Venezuelans are coming here in droves because of the policy he pushed to implement.
I agree with what your saying immigrants with green cards have been paying just not the ones who have crossed lately. Not sure how long it takes for the government to get them set up so they can legally go to work. I understand they can work under the table to survive but that's not paying into the tax system.
It's hard for a welfare state with open borders to survive. This is the reason we need a immigration tax to help fund their housing. A 10% payroll tax for all people making over 100k per year.

You’re not understanding what I’m saying. Immigrants come over here and can actually purchase social security numbers. It works like a normal SSN. They get taxes taken out of their checks just like you and me. There are labor companies that hire them under false SSN and pay the immigrants under the table.
Also, under the new Venezuelan policy, you can sponsor a Venezuelan and they will be paroled. Which means, they get a work permit(also known as an EAD) after a week or two of being in the US.
The US government gives some of these permits out like candy. These immigrants can also be eligible for some government assistance.
I understand exactly what your saying. It's hard to believe the ones that are living on the streets or in tents or so called get a ways are working and paying taxes as we speak.

An estimated 2 million undocumented workers in California have been excluded from unemployment benefits. The Safety Net for All Workers Act would provide benefits to all workers, regardless of immigration status. It would pay $300 a week for up to 20 weeks.

Sales tax? Try state and federal income tax. Also, illegal immigrants can’t just get welfare. I wish more Americans actually knew that instead of thinking they receive benefits.
Let’s be honest here. The past 3 presidents could have and should have done something about immigration. You can say Trump this and that, but did he actually come up with a cohesive plan? A plan that would allow a path for immigrants to come into in this country naturally?

Tell me exactly how they are paying those state and federal taxes being undocumented workers? Even if that is somehow occurring do you think it's adding up to the near 500B that the federal govt is spending on illegal immigrants per year?

Trump worked around an antagonistic congress and establishment to get the border under control and that's a fact. Biden purposefully turned it into the shitshow that it currently is and that's a fact.
