Sounds like we took Greg Bell

Greg Bell was probably putting 170 on our defense in fall camp, too. That's how he got the starting nod at the beginning of the season.

Iowa Western is one of the best jucos in the country and they are in our back yard. They were ignored by previous staffs and I don't know why. I really hope we get a foot in the door over there and pull some of their better players. I'm not sure if the staff thought Bell waa a better fit for their offense or not.

Remember what Banker said. The "smart guys" above the coaches didn't want JUCO players for whatever reason.

If you need to get "mad" to play well at the D1 level...then you are not a D1 guy.

He wasn't playing "mad" he was playing really well because for the first half the Husker D couldn't seem to figure out that Iowa might run the ball.

Well so what, the staff like Bell better for whatever reason. Do we owe every decent juco player a spot? Say we flip it and take Sargent over Bell. Then Bell is mad at us for not taking him.

You are correct. Clearly Bell was the right choice - he is paying huge dividends for us

Yep. Who knows, maybe Bell hangs 170 on Iowa today if he hadn't quit at the first sign of adversity.

By the looks of it...neither should have been recruited. The top two backs were the top two backs by years end. It’s unfortunate the staff felt the need to cater to Bell.

Tom Osborne had a lot to do with their program

Everybody seems to have a grudge against Nebraska:
  1. Colorado — Where do I start? Oh, yeah, the 18-game win streak; and the nine-game win streak; and the five-game win streak; and ...
  2. Michigan — Frost said something two years ago, when he was coaching at another university.
  3. Purdue — Winnable.
  4. Wisconsin — To quote Paul Chryst: "**** you, ************."
  5. Iowa — Not recruited; or not recruited in the right way; or we live in the past; or the future; I forget.
Time to hold a few grudges of our own.
