All due respect jflores, but Moos would know this is without any doubt a question he was going to get. If he didn't have a strong answer he'd look like the biggest dumbass in the state. I'd have been shocked if he said anything different than this.
I would have expected something more along the lines of "We have a good coach right now and we're still evaluating the program and where we want to be. Scott certainly has roots in this state and is as good a young coaching prospect as any that has come along, but I've not had the chance to interact with him directly in my professional history. I expect him to be coaching in the P5 sooner than later."
Or something kinda AD speak. Laying out Frost's resume on the radio really only has a few possible purposes.
1. Sell the fan base. This is NU. He's Frost. Not really necessary. We know the history.
2. Signal that he "gets it". There have been questions whether he's going to come in and pull a Leach out of a clown car just because someone like a Leach is proven, and Moos is known for going after established guys. Or whether he'd lean a lot on his "fit" ideals and go get someone like a Frost.
Edit: There's a third option that this is just as much signalling to UF or UT that we don't have an AD that's going to just let them steal "our" hot candidate.
I think this was just as much him letting the fan base know, yes I know Frost, I know his background, I know his fit, and he's not going to be lost in some coaching search that consists of Leach and two guys you never heard of but are pretty good coaches (Babers or Campbell or whatever) because I want to maintain my reputation for independence and telling a fanbase where it needs to go.
I would imagine this statement has a calming effect. If anything, it puts to rest the idea that he wouldn't consider Frost because he's not experienced or proven enough.
