Makes me wonder if EJ went to the coaches and either A. Asked they didn't bring in a portal RB in this winter. Or B a guarantee that he was given 1st team guaranteed.
EJ was the lead back for a few games late in the season for a 6-6 team. He was weighing the risk of competing with Parker (5.9/4*, number 6 RB recruit) and any RB(s) from the portal vs. moving on. In this scenario, he could possibly end up RB4 instead of competing with Dowdell for carries. He decided the risk wasn't worth it.
That's true. RB is also one of those positions that usually a guy after 1 year you figure out if he's the GUY or not. Sometimes earlier. Emmet's good but he's not about to turn into Ahman Green or anything.
For all we know they were already planning on giving someone like Nelson most of the carries in the bowl game. Rhule already said he's treating the bowl like the first game of next season. If EJ spent the last week seeing Nelson getting more carries with the 1s then his departure is understandable. I personally can't wait to watch the bowl to see some of the younger guys on the field.
Does anyone know anything about Mekhi Nelson? He apparently had a relationship with EJ Barthel before Barthel came here. He had offers from UConn, UMass and Bowling Green. I'm wondering if he and Ives will be 105 roster causalities.
According to Benning. Mekhi Nelson was the player DH said could help us a couple weeks ago. I bet we see him in the Bowl Game.

It really destroys the whole "coaches know more than some guy on the internet" deference.
RB for whatever reason wasn’t getting the snaps he wanted. Podcaster trying to stir up interest in his podcast gives account of what EJ supposedly said. That’s chickenshit. EJ needs to go on the air and say those things if that’s what he thinks. Taking the word of some clown podcaster who says he “WOULD DIE FOR THiS PROGRAM “ is just foolish.
