I agree its best to honor Sam in every way. His potential replacements including a great recruit; probably miss him terribly and his mentoring _ a further testament to Sam. The great recruit is a tribute to is a complement to our coaches abilities and be assured; Sam and his achievements and attitudes had a lot to do with getting people here. GBRCall it mixed emotions. Football is a game. You're not asking who is going to replace Sam Foltz the person. Some people equate a profession with who a person IS. I tend to think we are more than just our job or our role. Sam Foltz was more than just a punter. So, I have no problem with people discussing a football game or a football team.
That is a great idea...I would like to see us line up in punt formation without a punter, and take a delay of game penalty, giving us 35 seconds to remember Sam in the first game on the first 4th down.
Who knows who will be our punter after the fall camp competition, but it is safe to say no one will do as well as Sam -- and whoever punts will wish he wasn't. That will be a really tough job and hopefully fans will resist any urges to boo if he is terrible. Imagine if you were put in that position.Who will be our punter? It is about Football Season. RIP SAM FOLTZ
It's like your mother has just passed away and you ask your dad if he's met any new ladies. Some things should just wait a bit for.
Totally disagree. This is a football message board, and he showed no disrespect. Everyone is hurting on this one and there may be varying opinions on what to do. Hell, I didn't even look at the board for a few days, but he/she was totally ok.
People need to stop pretending like they're more sensitive about what happened on the other person…
Thank youI said it was all good. I've got my opinion on this. The guy just got killed in a car accident. His funeral was today. I think we can wait until he's been laid to rest before worrying about his replacement. That's just me.
Agreed. I really didn't think this would hit me on an emotional level as much as it has, but at the same time I don't think it is out of line to think about who replaces him. If somebody thinks it's out of line, then don't read discussion about it. I don't think anyone of us has the answer on what is the right way to deal with it. It's really uncharted territory-as devastating as Brook Berringer's death was, he had already completed his eligibility and thus there weren't questions about who would replace him. We're all going through this together and need to be mindful about how different people deal with it all differently.Totally disagree. This is a football message board, and he showed no disrespect. I think Drew Brown (one of Sams' good buddies) can punt if need be. I suspect someone will step up and they will have tremendous support and understanding from the team and fans. That first game is going to be a tough one for the team and I suspect there will be a lot of people that will think of Sam every time a punter walks on the field for a long time.Agreed. Exactly! It's like everybody is trying to top everyone else to show that they are more sensitive!Lots of soapboxing on here. Its okay to ask the question without disrespecting Sam and family. Good grief. The internet has made a contest out of who can be the most outraged and offended.
