This is the US in two weeks if people continue to ignore the advice of the CDC and others.

The majority of people are following the advice, you not watching the news? Nashville is like a ghost town. During rush hour, I breeze through downtown. It’s weird as hell.

What you see is always three weeks behind. Things two weeks from now will reflect measures taken a week ago. Hold on tight, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

It is a mixed response around here. Some people are really scared and others haven't changed their lives at all. It really depends on how these people are reacting to the unknown.

People haven’t changed on the coast, at least Harrison and Hancock counties, and it 17ing sucks. Everywhere looks like the are giving away stuff for free. My wife, who has cancer, had an appointment yesterday. Memorial in Gulfport had no one screening who came in and out of the hospital. Their other branches do - you can’t go in a door with getting your temp taken. But anyone could stroll right through to the chemo ward if they wanted too. This is why the coast is more infected than anywhere else. Because it’s ran by a bunch of morons. But no you Jackson County. Y’all are doing things right it seems

@Max_fisher had a good compare between Lodi and Bergamo. Both Northen Italian cities with similar contraction trends at one point. Then One took measures two weeks earlier than the other. And due to the delay you mention it looked useless for a few weeks. Now they have starkly different numbers

Again they also celebrated Mardi Grais during the beginning of this whole thing. Doesn't help that the casinos bring in people from all over.

I've got a lot of family all over MS, but a bunch of them are on the coast. I don't know if they truly understand how bad it is. I think some others have mentioned that they are treating it like a hurricane and it isn't anything like that at all.

That’s exactly how it’s being handled. Some are overreacting and buying everything, others are out partying

...and then theres those of us in the middle wondering which day is milk delivery day in the grocery store and how early I will need to be there before opening to beat out the women buying 4 gallons at a time.

The changes to Italy as a nation are going to be stark and incredibly different than the one that survived World War II.

I fear their friendly and outgoing personalities are going to be simply washed away after this and they will be very distrustful if strangers they meet along the way.

hopefully they'll stop bringing in Chinese by the tens of thousands

THIS!!

no one is talking about 2 VERY important issues with Italy:

1: they were plagued by the regular flu back in January of this year. Almost half of Italy's population had the flu. Thousands of deaths. Many more were still in recovery when Covid-19 dropped on them.

2: Italy has more connecting flights and tourists from China than any other country in the EU. They just ramped that up also in January. They didn't stop those flights until the beginning of February and they didn't stop departing flights to China at all.

6500 new cases. 793 more deaths. It’s only getting worse.

I suspect the coast is more infected because they have more traffics with New Orleans rather than who is in charge. If it was who is in charge, Jackson would already look like TWD.
