Spartanstink you can’t be that lost on this subject. You seem confused. I’m not saying bench Grier or anybody who’s good. C’mon dude. The point is we need to keep a few more good in state WV recruits each year. We get some but we need to get a few more. The out of state recruits are flaming, flopping at a 50% rate every year. We have nothing to lose. I never said have an all WV starting lineup. We just need to do a better job keeping and evaluating WV talent. The talent is on rise in WV. Take advantage.
Get a clue. Your way off. Charleston, WV native Dorian Etheridge is a NFL LB at Louisville. He should be a WVU star. Poor evaluation or lack there of is why future NFL WR Elijah Bell is at NC A@T. Bell is from Wheeling, WV. Those few in state recruits could make a huge difference. Get a few more each year. Nothing to lose.
You say not to bench Grier or anybody good but in reality you are - because you would take away their scholarship and give it to some in-state kid who isn't on the same talent level.
Your way of thinking is circular. The one or two every 3 years that leave and play (much less start) somewhere else were good and misses but the 20 or so we have on the roster every year who don't contribute anything more than being a tackling dummy aren't mentioned?
You also keep repeating the 50% line for out of state recruiting. I know one set of talent that ISN'T on the rise in WV - basic math. 50% of flame outs, to use your tired metrics, is still better than 98% flame outs.
Finally, your response is Dorian Etheridge? A sure-fire NFL'er with these stats - 0 forced fumbles, 0 interceptions, 0 sacks, 0 tackles for loss. If those are NFL stats then i"m waiting for my Hall of Fame induction notice.Would he help out on this defense - probably. But he'd be the third weakest link behind the other two in-state starters.
