Auburn has a new coach. Only a fool thinks a new coach is going to come out year one and have a 10 win season. I think he will be good in 2-3 years.

LSU is in shambles and may have a new coach, as O could, and should,4 be in damn prison by the first kickoff. Even then O got hot once with good coordinators. He isn't a good coach. He is Gene Chizic 2.0 I believe.

Old Miss has no defense, and again there is a reason Lane keeps getting fired.

Pittman scares me He turned Arkansas around with a quickness. Of the four west games that are not Alabama or Texas A&M this one I think is least likely we can win.

But of these four I think we split them 2-2.

Pittman turned them around so hard I just don't know. In 2019 Arkansas was so bad they lost to San Jose State and Western Kentucky. Sloppy Joe even hung 54 points against them.

In 2020 they beat us, Old Miss, and Tennessee. They lost to Auburn by two, LSU by two, Mizzou by three. That is a huge improvement with no spring training and a limited summer. Pittman looks to me like possibly one hell of a coach.

I don’t make predictions at all but I’m excited about this season because I do believe we will be much better offensively and of course the defense will be stout again. It’s going to take another season or two for Leach to be where he wants to be. If we win seven games and play good sound football I’ll be happy.

I would call it QB options rather than QB controversy. Since Mullen we have had SEC level QBs playing on our teams.

I expect a huge jump this year. D will be improved. I expect the O line to get the job done this year and all parts of the offense to be better. Not beat Bama better but competitive. I eould be disappointed with less than 8-4. We have a chance at another good signing class this year, tho we did just lose a couple guys. But thats a lifetime away so we will see

More consistency on offense. I really hope we can maintain a good defense, that's always been one of the identities of our team so I would hate to see that slip. I will be happy with a bowl. I think we need a few more seasons before we start really clicking. I am excited for the Rogers to Walley connection. They are going to break a lot of school (possibly league) records if they stay healthy through their senior years.

You just brought up another big cog in the machine, the O line. I still expect them to go through the growing pains as well to get the depth we need to compete with the better teams. We might get 6-8 guys who can make the blocking reads for this offense but injuries and Covid can mess that up fast.

The Covid wildcard... maybe we won't have to play games with a skeleton squad this season.

So my last view was the Spring game where I thought we looked as bad as we did last season offensively. Are you guys confident we can make improvements against the drop 8? What was the biggest issue with our inability to beat that look.....OL, QB, WR's? Combo of all?

I noticed that some suggest this is the year we'll improve, but history actually shows year 3 is Leach's first big year wherever he's been. Is it too optimistic to think we'll make a big jump in year two?

Just the initial things that pop in my head thinking about football. Would be great to have a nice football season on the heels of the Natty in baseball.

The most immediate improvement we can make against 8 man drop

is better blocking from our tackles. We were consistently getting beat on the edge by the three man rush. An average SEC caliber line and a QB with a spring and summer under his belt in this offense should be a night and day difference against that defense. We'll see.

Really, history is mixed. At Texas Tech, he took over a 6-5 team and had very gradual improvement before he cracked the top 25 in year 5. At WSU, he took over a 4-8 team and got them close to .500 in year 2, fell back to 3-9 in year 3, before hitting his stride in year 4.

Jefferson has somewhat big shoes to fill with Feliepe Franks moving on though, he was really solid last year.

I have no idea what to expect either. I guess my only expectations is that the offense looks a little more competent most times.

It's worse because I don't know what to expect out of anybody in the West past A&M or Bama. I am guessing we are improved on offense (but a year away from fully clicking) and no worse on defense, but we could do that and still see Ole Miss, Arkansas, LSU and Auburn pass or stay ahead of us for us to be last in the West. Or I could see LSU and Auburn struggling or imploding and us edging past Ole Miss and Arkansas to be third best in the West. It will probably be somewhere in the middle.

I do think the West is going to be strong next year. Somebody is going to finish last but I am not expecting anybody to be a doormat. If everybody plays to potential, there will probably be a pretty decent team go 1-5 against the West.
