Urban Meyer rocked the Big Ten when OSU got him...and since then it seems like all the teams still try to hire the most average pedestrian coach possible.

Get out with that. He isn't on the market, so it won't happen but he is a great college football coach. 79% career win percentage, 2 Pac-12 Championships at Washington, 5 Conference championships at Boise St, a college football playoff appearance.

Chris Petersen would be an upgrade over any coach we've had since '97. We'd be lucky to have him.
One of those coaches had an unprecedented record in NCAA football. If getting a coach who has the NCAA record for reaching 100 victories the soonest and in an eight year stretch won 6 national championships is boring then do it till my eyes glaze over.
Chris Petersen would be a home run. He took Washington to the playoff...had 3 straight 10+ win seasons at Washington. 92-12 record at Boise St.

People have an unrealistic/inflated view of this search (Saban/Urban/etc.) It's almost assuredly going to be a Petersen, a Rhule, Aranda, BOB, Liepold, Klieman, or someone of that ilk.
