How long, assuming total optimism, would it take for the front 7 to repair gap integrity with proper coaching?

seems like pretty basic stuff….

"NIL, NIL, NIL..." That's all I ever hear from you guys lately. NIL. Such a disgusting way to conduct a college football program.
I don’t disagree, but would you recommend we don’t use this practice? With PJ at the helm in minnesota, I would be willing to bet all of my NIL dollars that he is doing everything in his power to capitalize on NIL.

Disgusting.

Not if an offensive lineman is able to push his guy wherever he wants to.

nil is great, it's a legit way for donors to make above the table donations to help the team's players get rewarded for their work. we always hear about kids being payed under the table, be it the sec, usc's bush, tressel, etc...now everyone is on a reasonably level playing field. yes, it's a much better way to conduct a college football program.

furthermore, it allows the players to learn real life lessons on a free market, and keep the team uninvolved in any shady business...the contract is between the business and players..not the team...this makes it clean for everyone

The problem with NIL is that it is a quick fix. Scott Frost was all about quick fixes this off-season and our team is worse than it has ever been.
maybe we should have got some oline dline lb's and safties in the last portal...
from that video it sounded like frost has 47 million in the bank and really didn't care about football anymore.
nil and mickey, that could be a different deal. if there wasn't nil we would be watching smothers hand off to yant, or throw to manning..

Are you saying NIL is the reason we are bad right now?

I thought all along people were saying it’s coaching. Learn something new everyday.

F no. It's coaching. And practice planning has a lot to do with it as well. Play a touch football spring game over three months before the first game because of fear of injuries, follow that up with very little live 11 on 11 work in the fall, go no pads in Ireland.... and proceed to find out when the games start that a couple of the new guys don't like to tackle, a couple returners still can't tackle and apparently the D-line struggles to get off blocks and maintain gaps when they aren't going against scout team O-linemen.

But has NIL helped? We brought in three guys. I think all after spring ball. How is that going so far?

Seems to be Nebraska went to the portal/NIL this year up front. How is that working out?

There are some obvious problems as Geo Southern took full advantage of their split zone O. Iowa will kill us with that as well.

I agree about the practice crap, I just don’t think NIL plays a role in our suckage. Not in the least.

Go back and look at OU's last TD run. There is your problem. Kick out block C and G double the DT, Backside G pulls, while Reimer does not follow and just sits there flat-footed with his thum up his ***.

This is really not a difficult read for a competent LB. Your G is your first read. Basic effing football. You learn that in middle school.

I am not one to bag on players, but I couldn't agree with you more. Not only do they "try" to tackle with their head down if they miraculously stumble their way into a fill and wiff, they rarely can even make a basic f'n read and move over two gap responsibilities when the C doubles the opposite way and your G pulls.

As a coach at a much lower level, I would freaking sit a kid after repeatedly being that ****** at his position. They might be the worst LB tandem in school history.

DL sucks too. They generally get pushed to the exact spot the other team wants them.

While I don't disagree, the Tackle is usually eating the double for the past freaking three weeks and daring our LBs to at least be competent. The run towards the end of the first half is a PERFECT example of what the OP was asking itt.

You are right, though....for God sakes, DTs, at least provide some resistance to the double and at least keep your shoulders square to the los.

At this point, if your kids keep making the same basic eff ups, it is time to look at a replacement for you is coaching that unit.
