Geo’s comment says it all. All the keyboard warriors who put so much pressure in these guys then attack them when they stumble. The pressure on these guys was huge. They carried the load and got it done.
I wonder if this will free them up at all? Or does pressure continue to mount from here? Or does it not matter? I obviously know nothing.

No not at all. Keyboard warriors did not cause this. Key board warriors don’t win basketball games and get to the ncaa tournament. That is what the players and coaches did.

Keyboard warriors are the guys who attack 21 year olds because they didn’t have enough energy. Key board warriors are idiots when they attack the coaching staff and players day in and day out without having one iota of what they are dealing with. Maybe the coaching staff and players aren’t all that bad and they are figuring out how to be the first Rutgers team in the 30 years to get to the ncaa tournament or to be the best Rutgers team sines 1975 or to have the entire fan base hanging on every shot.

we have probably 20 people who consistently post comments every day or every other day. By reading the comments in game and after, about 1/3 of them would have jumped off a bridge if Rutgers lost today. I can only imagine what happens to them when the pressure gets turned on at work.

Absolutely. I could barely stand to watch, I can only imagine the weight the players were feeling. Glad they can relax now and have some fun.

No you have alums , fans and donors some who actually played sports beyond Pop Warner and Little league who are tired of excuses. These people expected much more after starting off at 7-1. Tired of 30 years of excuses . You saw how close today was to a monumental setback for Rutgers. It has nothing to do with jumping off bridges. It ‘s they actually live and die Rutgers.

Great post! They are the same guys that point fingers and throw others under the bus when things get tough at work.

I’ve been pretty harsh on them for sure, but honestly...welcome to college basketball. That’s what it is.

And in regards to the pressure Geo was saying, he put that pressure on himself. Geo openly told his mom to skip senior night because he wanted her to go to the NCAAs.

Or maybe he was trying to not have her jump through hoops to get there on ridiculously short notice.

Good post. It's not the criticism that's so bad - it's the ultra-harsh, mean-spirited stuff and the rumors and innuendo about all kinds of crazy crap most have no clue about (and I'm not talking about the in-the-moment freakouts in game threads which many do). Very happy for the team and 98% of the fans - a few of our fans need to grow up, though.

Agreed. Posts that are ultra-harsh or mean spirited to the player (or coaches) as a person crosses the line.

Also, I think it’s tougher for people who either haven’t been posters or lurkers for 15 years or aren’t on multiple times a day to know who has legitimate sources vs who is starting rumors.

Everything else is basketball talk.

If you see any others post them.

Young: "I know the fans waited a long time for this and we've punched that ticket"

Geo: “we did it. That's the #1 thing. It's just a weight off my shoulders to be honest. The last couple of weeks we’ve been trying to grind it out”
As Geo said, he felt the weight..I sensed the team getting tight last 6 min and Bardo also indicated that. Hopefully, with the 30 year monkey off their backs, team can play loosy goosy and have fun playing out the season. Its a damn shame that the criticism of some on this board especially in game threads on players and coaches is so harsh. I'm sure these messages get back to the kids. Bottom line naysayers, team has accomplished its goal, a goal they achieved for ALL of us. Its amazing to me how you can possibly enjoy watching these games with all the negativity. When Pike became coach I jumped on the bandwagon and I'm not getting off. Big Ten winning record last two season(21-19) in a great conference. Relax and enjoy!

He wanted to see her in Indy at B1G tourney. Which was inevitable. Perhaps then NCAA but not what he referred to.

They have the ability to make my food taste better and reduce my intake of Chips Ahoys
lol, we've talked about this one before - after a loss, especially a bad one, I shut down on all college sports, while after a win like this, I can't get enough of the posts, the stories, and searching for RU coverage on TV. And we celebrated tonight with the best damn Indian food around (which is saying something in the Edison area) and it tasted better than ever!

We have people on this board who are analysts, experts and supposedly in the know. That not withstanding, none of us really knows what caused our team to seemingly implode on a 5 game losing streak after being ranked since the great flood (not Kyle).

I'm not an expert, nor an analyst nor an expert...I am an alum and I have bled SCARLET since 1966!...and always will.

Some of our experts can be caustic, sarcastic and hurtful to other board members- while also cutting members of the team, our coaches, our fan base ... or all of the above.

I had a hard time today watching the game and not losing it when we went into OT. Luckily I left the room for a moment and when I returned we were up 4 points in OT.

I will try to work on not targeting any of our team...but since I don't play anymore and they do I live vicararously through their efforts and rise and fall with their success and failures.

Here's to Coach Pike his assistants and the team that broke the 30 year curse.

GO RU!!

slight ot:

Pike has class. Pitino no class.

He never complimented a team that beat him twice. He never mentioned Rutgers or Coach P. Thought I was tired of Pike's willingness to talk up the other coaches and players...in victory and defeat. But NO: give me a Pike not a Pitino every day and twice on Sunday.

Pike is class...and it shows. It goes top down and bounces back from the players.

If Pitino does or doesn't comes back...meh.

Glad we have a winner like PIke ....and our Rutgers BB team!

Good question. I think everyone’s expectations were raised when we ranked #11. This got the players starry eyed, maybe the coaching staff a little starry eyed and it definitely made us fans starry eyed. When they didn’t perform like a #11 team for the duration of the season our expectations got lowered.

Exactly right. This is all about the kids. Then the staff. Then all of their families. It’s not about us except for the games we are in the stands making a lot of noise. Thats the only time we matter.

I was really surprised by Geos comments don’t want to parse too much but for a guy who allegedly seeks out the last shot I really am surprised he felt the pressure and equally surprised he said it’s a weight off his shoulders as opposed to the teams shoulders unless he’s referring specifically to the bad play at the end of regulation and the team picking him up in OT?

Young straight up wanting it for the fans first was telling to me he has totally immersed himself in Rutgers culture.

McConnell had comments similar to Young.

Harper tweeted out about an assistant coach who lost a loved one and missed the game and winning for him.

Get a life man. I never post anything positive or negative about bball so I’m not one of the 20. However now is a time to celebrate not to get on your high horse and call people out lecture like a true ahole.

Yea I am the a hole not the posters acting like pre-pubescent high school kids attacking players and coaches the whole game then patting their own backs as if they did something.... good take

This is the exact time to attack the guys who attack the guys... this makes them look like complete idiots now that we have done it. Go celebrate but don’t let those idiots posters off the hook because next year they will be saying the same sh*t and pretend they we’re right all along

You are being an ahole for telling others not to be aholes? That’s the definition of stupidity.

Your take is 100% correct here. Then again I NEVER post or read the game thread so you may want to change that lol.
