Just posting from someone reliable and that’s inside the university. I didn’t know that would make me a troll I thought it was half way interesting and very possible. I didn’t know Cal possibly departuiring after this next class would be so depressing for some. I’ll not post again, bring this post up around this time next season.
This board is never happy after a loss that's hard to stomach. Posters beware.

It makes sense. Not sure if the OP has insider info or not. That’s a logical guess, if he doesn’t.

He is going to ride that “Super Class” next season as far as it will take him and then walk away.

I am good with that. Hope he walks away with another title.

Talking to some people inside the university, next season Cal is out. He coached one of the incoming recruits dad I don’t have to drop a name. DW. So the CCC ends next season.
I’ll believe it when I see a press conference or some kind of news release with a direct quote from CCC.

Some of these so-called UK fans has to start these threads everytime UK loses a game. I don't see Cal going anywhere until his contract is out 2028-29 and then still being an ambassador for UK Basketball. UK had Wallace back for his 1st game since his ankle injury vs. Arkansas, UK lets Vandy end on a 12-0 run at half, score 5 points on a foul to take 5 point lead and momentum. Then last 5 minutes UK goes 1/8 FT's with Oscar missing TWO 1 and 1 bonuses, Toppin missed two, and Oscar 1/2 for 1/8 FT's in last 5 minutes. If we hit our FT's alone UK would have been up 80-77 with a minute to go and then UK wouldn't had to start fouling early. Then add the 12-0 run plus last 30 seconds 2 FT's ball back to Vandy and then a 3 to give Vandy a 5-point lead at half. If we keep it tied or 2 points down at half and UK hits FT's and zero turnovers in last 5 minutes of game Kentucky wins this game by 8-10 points. It is that simple!
Go ahead and daisy chain the "Ifs" from this game and all the other "should have wons" since 2019. Dedicate a wall in your house to it and run yarn to all the connections. Maybe then, sitting back and looking at your good work, you can convince yourself that Calipari is a tragic figure in some sort of cosmic play where the basketball gods torture him and fate mocks his efforts.

This would actually make sense . Cal has told Eli and Mitch ( he’s spent some time around Eli this yr) that he wants to see next yrs class thru and he’s out . Being active in the portal is a clue he’s back next yr , probably . If he leaves, the class leaves …so just bring the players in and let’s see what happens . The alternative is a patchwork roster and new coach . If you get the new coach anyway a yr from now , it’s the better alternative having the top players here. You can’t have the new coach plus the #1 class that cal has

How far inside the university?

It wasn’t so bad when I was an undergrad because people were smarter and humbler way back then.

But by the time I was in grad school in the teens everybody and his brother and their professors and their TAs thought they had psychic insight into the heart of the program just because they had that UK ID and half of those idiots had never been to a basketball game. All of em would have become a hundred times better informed just by reading this board for two days.

So which was it: did you talk to Capilouto or did you only talk to Mitch?

The real question is
Are fans to the point they hope that happens in order to get rid of Calipari?
The honest answer for me is no. I want to see us play some march games. I want our fanbase to be part of cbb. I hope cal makes a run. But a first round win is only good to keep the bleeding going.

Many are.
If I knew for sure another first round loss would rid us Caliprairie (sorry I love that nick name lol) then I would have to hope for it
But I still can’t actively cheer against our guys

Pretty damn funny that some people think that no one can possibly know anyone that works at the university. News flash:: real humans work at the university and have lives outside of work, I know this may be hard to digest for some but it’s true.

Alright? Everyone is a troll when they hear some positive news..Listen UK is a mid pack team, who would troll them? What the hell.
@LmdCat is a puss plain and simple. Libitard who if you dare post something he don't agree with he uses the coward block button. Because
UK can’t afford to keep Cal for next season. The fan base is done. Losses and excuses keep piling up. Apathy everywhere. Mitch and Eli better wake up and negotiate a buyout when we lose next week. This can’t go on.
They will. Cal is gone IMO

I’m sure these 5 stars next year won’t be able to hit shots or play defense either. We’ve become Memphis.🤬

I’m with you. Wish Calipari (for his sake and ours) could go out with a team that only lost 5-6 games during the regular season and was one of 5 or 6 teams that had a realistic chance to win the title.

But to do that I think UK would at a minimum need Reeves, Livingston or Toppin and Tshiebwe back – or as good or better upperclassmen from the portal. Round that out with Thiero, Collins, Ware and Ugonna and the team might be what I’m talking about – although even then I would be worried about not having enough 3 pt. shooting.

Not necessarily true that the class leaves if Cal leaves.

If you get the quality of coach you want, that fits with what the UK program demands, you get em regardless of whether the class is bolting.

If you can afford the buyout, that is. Which we can't.

I don't see how Barnhart survives this, tbh. Doesn't matter what good he's done. That lifetime BS was a nuke for the basketball program.

Cal’s teams with talented Freshmen leading the way:

2010- Elite Eight
2011- Final Four
2012- Championship
2013- NIT
2014- Runner-up
2015- Final Four
2016- 2nd round
2017- Elite Eight
2018- Sweet Sixteen
2019- Elite Eight

His last three teams with transfers/multi year players leading the way:

2021- 9 wins.
2022- First round loss.
2023- ? (doesn’t look promising).

I’ll take deep runs with talented Freshmen over 1st round losses or not making the tourney with mediocre upperclassmen.

Next years class is freakish talented.

Cal will underachieve with these dudes unless someone else steps in and takes the rains for development, game prep and game time adjustments.
More less let Cal appear to be at lead but someone in the background actually making the hard needed improvements.

Cal please bounce….

With all due respect
If the incoming class were freakishly talented they may be able to overcome Calipari’s lack of coaching ability
As it is, while they ARE talented, none are the generational type that can negate the coaching (ala 2012)
